As all of us get many robocalls, I saw one on Caller ID that looked peculiar. The phone number listed a 972 area code but the city said San Angelo, TX. Those two don't match unless it's someone with a cell phone.

I answered. I asked about the difference between the two. The caller said he was in Quebec, Canada. I asked why his Caller ID said what it said? He said, the auto-dialer on their computer just assigned random numbers with random cities. Explains why many times the number is local with a local person's name is on it only to answer and hear a computer talking.

It’s called local presence dialing. It would appear that was the closest line they had open to you. I get those too. I never answer a number I don’t have in my phone.
