• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Crootn Weight Loss Challenge ending 14June

Today is a rest day for LIIFT4 so hoping to get a run in this afternoon... wasn't expecting snow to be on the ground this morning, but that's WV weather for ya.

I subbed pretty hard though - instead of 2 rope climbs I just did two pullups

Instead of double unders I just did singles.

I'm a weight loss expert as I've battled being skinny and/or fat my entire life :)

I can go through an entire day with strict discipline, not giving in to any bad eating. I simply do not crave junk food during the day. However, at night, it's a whole different demon. I want to eat everything in sight. Anyone else with this problem?

How much weed have I smoked? That is usually the starter.

I have no fat to lose at this point, but I've spent God knows how many hours researching this stuff and testing on myself.

If I had to essentialize in one sentence the way I've found to lose fat with the least amount of effort, it would be: Replace refined carbs and fats with protein and fiber.

Examples:

- If you eat a lot of potato chips, eat pork rinds instead (which actually have a lot of protein, believe it or not)
- Instead of candy bars, eat high-protein bars (need to actually be high protein, e.g. Quest bars or Kirkland protein bars)
- Instead of regular ice cream, eat high protein ice cream (Aldi has a great one)

The more refined carbs and fats you replace with protein and fiber, the more fat you will lose, generally speaking.

This is pretty much what all successful diets do, if you think about it.

Agree. I’m really trying to add more fiber to my diet. Fills you up and we can’t digest it so just shits right out.

Wow this is some really simple good advice

Hey folks, just checking in. Hope everyone is working hard to get to where they want to be. Listen, a lot of y’all who said you wanted to be in the competition didn’t give me what I need. I need both your weight AND your BF%. (NOT BMI) too many to tag, so check this and figure out if I’m referring to you. I’ll accept this NO LATER THAN 10pm tonight. The following is the official list of participants up to this point:
@Taggart
@Croot_Overlord
@Chris Farley
@Ddub
@I am El Nino
@Cletusnow

I use bands to help. I can do like 7 at once. I broke it into 10 sets of 5-10-15.

I rowed 1000x2 instead of running 800x2. My feet can’t handle running anymore
How do you rig up the bands to assist you? I've been working on my pull ups, and not can probably do 8-9 max for my first set, but then start getting diminishing numbers after that, depending on how long of a break I take in between.

Those are the straps that you use for rings. And then I run the strap through one of the monster bands.

Also, do you do all of those exercises in order like that, or do you do the run (or rows) first, then alternate a set of push ups, pull ups, and squats until they're done, then finish with the run (or rows)?
For this one you do the run first then can break up everything in the middle how you want. Then run last. That’s actually only a “half Murph”. The full one is 2x that lol. And your supposed to wear a 20lb vest

Yeah, I'm not ready for the full one, with or without the 20lb vest. Unfortunately, I can't even do push ups right now either, as I'm nursing a bum shoulder back to health. Not supposed to do any pushing activities at all. Strangely enough, pull ups don't hurt at all.
