Right, both can be true - no one could say he's truly a good guy, but he does have principles. He also hasn't been the bogeyman that the DC mob created for its own corruption. But in this case, as I think it's been said here, if Russia installed a puppet regime in Canada, ran 45+ biolabs, laundered trillions of dollars, and funded military buildup over several years on our border...who would be the "good guy" in that scenario?

He's not fighting against any of that, except by coincidence. He's ruled Russia for almost 25 years. His wars are to advance his interests and power. He's kept his people under the thumb of oligarchs the entire time, doing whatever was necessary to stay in power. There's nothing good in Putin at all, and when the West gives up and he's finished with Ukraine, he'll move on to conquering elsewhere.
He's a vicious dictator, and it's dangerous for any nation to think of him as anything else. The fact that he's partnering with China, Turkey, Iran, etc tells us all we need to know about him.
