McCarthy has a hard-on wanting to become Speaker. If he did pull out and happened to endorse Jordan or anyone else, he'd spend the rest of his time sabotaging the Speaker. Being Speaker is the culmination of being elected to Congress. It would be easier to remove a rebar from a solid 10 foot square chunk of concrete with only your hands than McCarthy giving up his quest.

One doesn't get to be Speaker, in the leadership, a committee chair or other top position without first being a member of the establishment. Don't do their bidding or go too far to expose stuff and you'll be sent packing.
