One thing this entire saga has done is turned my very gun resistant husband into a man who is now detrimined to aquire an arsenal.

He got a glock 19. I was going to let him get comfortable with having a gun in the house and then gradually aquire a few more over time.

Seriously, this was a big deal for him. I was raised and am comfortable with guns, he wasn't... so we didn't have guns.

Now? Nope. He gets home from Aspen Friday and told me to cancel all plans Saturday. We're heading over to stock up. Kids, too. (And my kids are well versed in gun safety and use. He compromised with me by not fighting me when I let them go with my parents or friends to learn to shoot and get comfortable).

I wonder how many across our beautiful country are in the same place today?

I was just like your husband. I wasn’t necessarily gun resistant, but I never felt the need for one. Not only do I not really hunt, but I’ve always felt relatively safe in my surroundings. I also always felt that if I had a gun and carried one, I’d end up putting myself in a situation where that gun would end up causing me more problems. Plus I have a very bad temper.

It takes a lot to get me to a point where that temper is exposed, but when it happens, I tend to even scare myself. So I sort of felt like I kept that somewhat in check by not acquiring a gun, and I was willing to face whatever happened without a gun for mine and everyone else’s safety.

Don’t get me wrong I’m 100% in favor of our 2nd amendment rights. In fact I want responsible people carrying guns because I feel thats what keeps the evil bad hombres from attacking people like myself at random. I want guns in the hands of responsible gun owners and I believe that’s a right we should fight for until the very end and never backdown on it at any point.

Having said that, in light of what has transpired over the last 4 to 8 years, maybe longer, my feelings have completely changed. It may be the fact that I now have two daughters that I’m responsible for taking care of. Either way I’ve realized there’s a lot more evil in this world then I could have ever imagined, and at this point my temper, which I still believe is a danger, but nothing compared to the evil that lurks in the shadows of this corrupt and evil world we live in today.

That evil and corruption is why I’ve spent close to 5K in the last 6 months or so acquiring an arsenal for myself. I’ve also started trying to get more comfortable and experienced with the items I’ve purchased. Like I’ve told my wife, it does neither of us any good to simply have a gun if we aren’t prepared to use it especially in a stressful situation.

Just because you know how to shoot a gun, doesn’t mean you’re prepared to use it the situation presents itself. You have to be ready and completely comfortable with the gun in every aspect. When that situation does arise, you aren’t going to be able to stop and think about what you are doing. It has to be second nature without thinking about it.

I’m not quite there yet, but I realize that, but I will continue to do what I can to get to that point. Hopefully I’ll never have to use it in a situation that requires it, but I will do my best between now and when that time comes to be ready.

this is a great post and shows extreme maturity on your part. You realize that you have a temper that could cause problems and escalate a situation if a gun were involved. I think you made a great choice in not owning guns previously and I also think you’re making a great choice now by arming yourself. The world landscape has changed. You have the emotional maturity to identify your deficiencies. That should help you keep your temper in check.

Thanks. I was looking at the same sig for my wife conceal carry and first shop wanted $799. Found another that wanted $1200. I had to pass but picking on up today $664 so I'm feeling better about the price. I'm thinking I want a compact glock for my conceal carry. Just haven't nailed it down yet. I appreciate your reply.
Have both and have carried both as I have had a ccp for some time now.
The fact that the sigs have an actual safety as opposed to glocks is reassuring to me.
P938 would be my recommendation.

I finally got in. I’ve got some catching up to do.

Welcome aboard.

You can’t convince me we let people just walk into the capitol with minimal damage done and now we’re bringing in 26,000 troops and military aircraft like that for an inauguration.

At this point I’ll be more surprised if Biden is inaugurated on the 20th than if something wild happens.

26k troops for a virtual inauguration? Sure....

F35 is too expensive to build still but getting better.

The cost to fly them is going the opposite direction and therefore we are playing right into China and Russia's hands by making vulnerable our air dominance (especially in a first strike scenario). US and allies can't keep enough planes in the air let alone get them out of production.

Given it's an inferior aircraft to the F-22 to begin with the whole program should be scrapped and the F35 tech dumped into the F-22 or simply move on to 6th gen now.
I would like to see someone like Elon musk get a chance to work with The skunk works and design some 6th or 7th gen stuff. You know he has some alien tech that might help some
Of these defense contractors out. Haha
