But there have been significantly larger storms out that way over the past 20 years right? Just seems odd that it would get destroyed with this particular one, unless it was just an issue of cumulative damage over the years and this was the final straw.

Disagree. Piers never make it. Inuding pilings.terrible storm. But it was a 7ft storm surge. Nothing like 23ft predicted. Temperatures dropped. 1st time that has ever happened. Normally after hurricanes it is hot af people batching go ck out the lows this week in FL. Along sc coat high 79 low 60ish all week. Yes there is garage and there was a storm. But mobiles and cars get swept away.
Around here one are of west Ashley is if 4 ft of water. Last yr in a rain storm they had 6ft. Both are bad. That was a pussy hurricane. Like me being a pussy for being paralyzed for 3 days. Just wasn't a big one. Still bad though

yeah, it fucked Florida up something fierce. Luckily for those of us here on the south carolina coast Florida took the brunt of it and slowed it down bigly. Can't imagine there will be anything more than minor wind damage here in Charleston, although it is blowing pretty good.

Think the eye hit up more towards georgetown / pawleys island. Probably a little more damage up that way, but again i think we got spared the worst thanks to Florida.

Not nearly as bad as what could happened is my point. But cat 2 or 3. If it would have hit like hyped it would leveled all those houses still standing. I'm oldenough to remember when we didn't embellish hurricane strength

Looks like every beach from at least Geargetown to the state line is underwater right now. How many times you recall that happening? A few in our lifetime?

I think you have lost your mind if you think the impact on the west coast of Florida was anything but devastating.

I can agree that the news/meteorologists exaggerate the shit out of every hurricane these days. Doesn't take away from the destruction in Florida, and lesser but still serious and widespread damage in the goat SC though.

All of them. We just supplied rebar to repair surfside pier from a couple years ago. In a large high tides all beaches disappear. Ft Myers got it bad. People lost electricity. It is fucking cold outside. Why? That is what has NEVER FU KING HAPPEND. Sorry for yelling

In large high tides the beaches all diappear??? Yeah, I know what high tide looks like. I also know on a full or new moon, sometimes it crests the dunes and goes into the road. Grew up spending tons of time at the beach, at family's house and elsewhere...Cherry Grove has never looked like this at high tide, man. Come on. It's ok to say that this is being exaggerated for ratings, while at the same time saying it is doing alot of damage to SC...alot more than a very high tide does. I don't really get the point you are trying to make here.

You'd have to go back to at least Matthew, and probably alot further for some of these beaches. Just got off phone w my folks and brother and sister. Briarcliff, Carolina forest Surfside. All said big storm that was is it. My folks live 500 yards from ocean at most. Water made it to first rd from beach. Everything is open as normal thus morning. It wasn't a big deal no matter how many scary tweets you post. I have seen 1 broken branch in Mt pleasant this morning.
I'm not trying to argue w you garnet. Just conveying foot on ground messaging. I'm sure there is some damage but the fear porn bull shit was what I was trying to point out

It's getting a little chilly here at night, but fortunately, it's still been pretty nice during the day, as long as the sun is out and it's not too windy. Low of 35 tomorrow. By middle of next week, we're in the upper 60's for highs, and lows in the upper 40's though. May have to go golfing on Thanksgiving weekend.
