Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

If you want to see a crazy ass storm, look up Typhoon Haiyan... thing was the most powerful typhoon/hurricane ever recorded. The people in Tacloban City were like yeah, whatevs... and they got fucking leveled. It peaked in intensity right as it hit that city.
I read about it when I was in college doing a gook study program. Fyi they make fine cream pies. Look it up on google

Just heard from relatives in Naples. The downtown area and beach got clobbered. They live east of there. Lost no power, not much rain, no street flooding but a lot of wind.

According to the weather app, the current weather in Punta Gorda has winds WNW at 85mph. Looks like it maxes out at 8:00 PM just under 100 mph. That's no joke.
Hopefully you guys don't get the winds like that where you're at, but I'm sure you're gonna get lots of rain.
But really, it seems like it's the storm surge and the flooding with this particular hurricane that is going to do the most damage. We'll see the next few days once the storm passes through and film crews and drones are able to fly over to show the aftermath.
