Kyle Rittenhouse trial has started.

The judge also said they are not considering if it was self defense or not, rather that the state has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that it was homicide, or something to that effect.

I think that was only one count though, the one related to McGinnis i believe? Im not sure why that is the case though

Was just thinking the same thing. Know nothing about this stuff, but this is taking forever. So complex, how in the world will they keep all this shit straight.
Add in the media hysteria around this, plus he is facing some serious charges that you'd want to make sure everyone understands all of the details so there is no misinterpretation.

Or he's giving them every minute detail so there is no chance of a mistrial which people had speculated could happen because the prosecution was so bad and then he could be charged again.

My dad is a lawyer, does alot of criminal defense work. Was talking to him last night about some of the crazy shit the prosecutor brought up, like questioning why someone needs counsel...he said he had seen some of that and assumed the guy was trying to get a mistrial, if he isn't a complete moron...which he isn't.

Leaves the door open for appeal i guess?

This has been very eye opening to me. I had no idea the prosecutor is allowed to just lie, without interruption or correction. He literally just said that Kyle cannot claim self defense against an unarmed man.

I think he said that he can't claim self defense IF he was the one that provoked the fight.

Edit: and thats why there is such a big deal about the enhanced video. There is big question as to whether he even pointed the gun or not. Kyle testified he did not.

The jury instruction have been going on for what 30-45 minutes now? Seems like it should be a little bit simpler than that

I was a juror for a murder trial in NJ and the instructions take forever, most of which is just nonsense. Only took us 2 hours to put the guy away for 80 years. (5 total charges - guilty of all 5). So I hope this jury does the right thing, “not guilty” in quick time.

You are ignorant if you think a "gun is a gun is a gun" says the prosecutor. As if it mattered what type of gun or ammo was in the gun when it was fired from just about point blank range.

Prosecutor sucks

Prosecutor keeps pointing out dumb shit Kyle did like lie to the cameraman, being out past curfue, having a gun. All dumb, none illegal.

Nearly everything this asshole has said has been misleading, a straight up lie, or a straw man. He keeps saying shit like we prosecute people for arson, we don't execute them in the street...of course we don't. Nobody did that, and nobody is even claiming that occured here. Looking forward to an hour of facts from the defense.

I'm pretty ignorant on the trial process. Is this the last part before the jury meets to discuss the case?

The defense gets 2.5 hours for their closing arguments.

After that i believe the jury gets the case. It will take a few hours, bare minimum, because of all the instructions. The instructions would take an hour to read with no interruptions probably.

Should get a verdict this week.

Do you know how much time Binger has left?

Prosecutor "Lets list all the bad things Rosembaum did. 1) asked people to shoot him "nigga". 2) Lit a dumptser on fire 3) swung a chain"

Proescutor two minutes later: "Rosenbaum wasn't armed and didn't have any weapons"

Im pretty sure a chain is a weapon when swung in the air while participating in riotous behavior.
