My poker group is about to start back up after 15 months off. Starting over brand new on the "season", sucks cuz I was in 4th after 3 months. I made the argument that we are all touching the same cards, eating snacks, and drinking, putting our hands near our mouths and noses for 3-4 hours. Some people had not thought about that and when I said that had an "I see your point" moment. Looking forward to getting back to some normalcy here.
Weak. My poker group has taken off two weeks….weeks of Christmas and New Year’s. About half have had the China virus and the other half got the “vaccine.”

Our poker league normally takes December off (we play once per month). We did not play in April 2020, but did play every month since. I ended up getting C19 at our March game. Two other players tested positive too. No doubt it's a scenario for spread, being inside in close proximity for hours, handling chips and cards.

To those wondering how to speak to fearful people... First, understand that you can provide them information, but they might still choose to be scared. Here are some basic facts:
1. Almost half of the deaths in this country are nursing home residents. The median life expectancy for someone being admitted to a nursing home is 5 months. Sadly, these people didn't have long to live anyway, and C19 only moved up their timetable by a couple of months.
2. The CDC says that 5% of C19 deaths have C19 listed as the sole cause of death. Of the remaining 95%, those people had an average of 4 significant health issues.

Basically, if you're not near the end of your life in a nursing home, and if you're in generally good health overall, then C19 is just another cold virus.

"As previously announced, CDC is transitioning to reporting only patients with COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough infection that were hospitalized or died to help maximize the quality of the data collected on cases of greatest clinical and public health importance. That change in reporting will begin on May 14, 2021. In preparation for that transition, the number of reported breakthrough cases will not be updated on May 7, 2021."

"In other words, as we have previously acknowledged when we were no longer able to cover it up, there were policies in place to count every COVID-positive test multiple times from the same individual, counting antibodies as new COVID cases, PCR tests designed to produce false positives, incentivizing doctors and hospitals for positive cases, etc...we now are NOT counting any actual COVID cases from vaccinated people unless they get REALLY sick or die." Seriously, fvck these people.

Because studies show the vaccine isn't 100% effective. They acknowledge this but think they'd be much better off if I got it too. Can't really argue with that part.
Yes, yes you can. Your immune system can fight this just as effectively as the vaccine granted you don't have any underlying comorbidities.

Second, go get an antibody test to make sure you haven't already had COVID. If you have and weren't symptomatic you should be good to go as well.

Either way, it is your choice. If they are that paranoid just have them wear an N95 mask when you are around.
