This site isn’t going anywhere, but I’m also not going to follow arbitrary guidelines. I’ve never had official rules and I don’t want to make rules. I do understand some things can be very blatant, but it’s a slippery slope. I’ve seen sites go to shit too many times because of it

There'd be a massive loss in traffic if this thread moves to OTD sports
This site isn’t going anywhere, but it’s impossible for me to find a compromise.
Here’s what happens:
@Jake Broe Stan and @LafesterMacintosh get banned
The banning precedent has been set
A couple months later @ETNVol gets banned
After that @HiddenLakes gets banned for one of his elegant speeches
Later someone gets confused by a chain of @rebar posts and ban him for spamming confusing
Each time the bar drops a little lower
And then someone gets appointed moderator with slightly different viewpoints… and a whole new group gets targeted

I’m on 4chan as much as this site, but that site is not for everyone. Also, even on that site if you try and post something non political on the political forum you will get moderated. This site doesn’t have subforums, or topic separation, so anything goes
I’ve been a member on a philosophy forum that get into the whole moderation whirlwind and the whole forum becomes a site dedicated to who should be banned and who shouldn’t.
Most all of us watched the slide of Rivals over the years
Until it gets to the point that I’m paying for this site entirely out of my pocket, I’m going to keep it running

My solution to that was to create OtD Sports with @BLatta12. It’s essentially an extension of this site.
Personally, I don’t think moving over there is the answer, but if people can’t take it over here, there is another option in our same ecosystem. Additionally we have NZFSF.nz (it’s worth checking out just for interest - curiousfiend has done some amazing stuff on there) running as well.
With OtD there is plenty more latitude for controlling posting without violating the core principles of the site
