  • BACKGROUND: Ed Robertson formerly an Advisor to Governor Greg Abbott in the Division of Budget, Planning and Policy which works to ensure coordination of public policy with the state’s budget and directs long-range planning for the Governor’s Office. He also served as the Governor’s designee and Chair of the Texas State Preservation Board. While employed by the City of Austin as an Aide to the City Manager, Ed was awarded a Department of Urban Administration Scholarship and the Brackenridge Scholarship of Urban Administration and later was promoted to Budget Analyst. He then accepted a position as a Budget and Performance Analyst for the Legislative Budget Board (LBB). At LBB, Ed worked closely with state agencies, as well as the House Appropriations Committee and the Senate Finance Committee. In 2001, he transitioned from LBB to his last post with the Office of the Governor.

Tell me about Linux - this one not the Snoopy character.

Can you get rid of Windows and Office or use them without paying for them?

I don’t have a lot of experience using Linux as a main operating system in lieu of windows. It can be used in place of Windows and Linux is free. Linux does also use a graphical interface and is more robust and smaller. Because I don’t use it, I don‘t know all the pros and cons. Ie: Csn it run all the programs that i need?
