We were objectively great in my lifetime. We're still great in many areas, but all great empires fall, and our decadence and corruption is reaching critical mass. Worst of all, we're actively rejecting, at a governmental and societal level, the things that made us objectively great.

1971 began the slide from an economic standpoint, and it accelerated past a point of no return in the early 2000s. We ceded the culture war over the last 15 years or so. And the current administration has opened our borders to outsiders which will be the final death blow, just as Rome fell to the Goths and other foreign tribes who were "assimilated."
