They have a unique sound...lots of bands inspired by them but they are the only ones to do what they do.I have been jamming to some Tool on my work commute. Always wanted to listen to their stuff more and this thread has inspired me. Really enjoying it and it seems to me like the have basically defined their own genre
I’ve always been a huge Pink Floyd fan too. About to jam to some tool while I get my thanksgiving day workout inThey have a unique sound...lots of bands inspired by them but they are the only ones to do what they do.
I try to explain them to folks not familiar with them as being "The Pink Floyd of Metal"
Its very prog rock, songs that don't always follow the typical verse/chorus format. Lots of odd time signatures, so folks who like the drums have something brainy to chew on. A little bit of shock rock, a good bit of deep meaning spiritual lyrics of existence beyond the flesh.
They're amazing live. Huge sound.
Glad you're giving them a spin, and I'm very happy this thread gets good traction. Consider it my best contribution to TFSF.
SKOL!
