What do you all think about fat acceptance in America?

I think it's everyone's individual responsibility to accept how healthy they are. If you are overweight and unhealthy admit so and take some personal responsibility. There is no "Big Boned". This applies to both Men & Women however the movement seems to be geared more towards women.

No at the moment. I'm honestly just waiting for somebody to argue against it. I'm sure If I posted that on Twitter my account would be deleted in a matter of seconds.

Enabling the obese to feel okay about their fatness is what opened up the can on all this other crap.

Liter-a-cola....sounds good, doesnt work.

I guess I'm missing what you're asking.

Enabling bad habits on anyone is not ok. well that's if you care about them. If it's someone you hate, oh well. Yeah Fat acceptance seems to have opened many doors. I mean Nuclear Family / American Dream style families were never perfect but they were a lot better off than what we have today.

Hell, half the time I don't even know what I'm asking

So what you're saying is....we shouldn't allow others to do anything WE consider to be a bad habit/negative.

I have always believed.....as an American, its their right to make their own choice. Like Elections....choices have consequences.

So when it come to me telling others how to live OR VICE VERSA...

People do have the right to choose their own behaviors but we as as society shouldn't celebrate them. Imagine celebrating people with split personality disorder, or Schizophrenia?
There is nothing celebratory about being overweight. All kinds of health issues and when you have nearly 40% of Americans that check that box, then it puts an unhealthy burden(health insurance costs) on the rest of society.

Huh? Who is celebrating that? I stated that its their individual right. I don't believe it to be ok to limit yours or my rights bc others make bad decisions. I get what you are saying....BUT your statement leads to the slippery slope that got us here.

I don't....like/celebrate/promote or anything else when it comes to bad habits/behaviors.....BUT I will never think it is ok to limit anyone's right b/c of other peoples behavior/choices/decisions.

At the end of the People (Americans especially) have become to wrapped up in telling everyone else how to act/believe/live/etc and not enough time worrying about ourselves. (ex. Karens and masks)

I guess I'm not making my point clear. I agree with you in that no one has the right to tell another how to live their lives. Especially if it's within the rules of a civilized society.

I do however think that we(society) should not be telling people that are overweight, or have gender dysphoria that's it's perfectly normal to be 300 lbs, or identify as the opposite sex.

No, we shouldn't stigmatize these people, but those close to them should get them the proper help(whether physical or mental) they may need.

This.

Fats are no different than smokers, drunks, people addicted to pain killers, gambling addicts, coiners, video game addicts, ect.

It might be a "burden" on society but we need to be intellectually honest and consistent with the "freedoms" thing.

I must come to the defense of thicc girls. I hope we are not referring to those fine ladies in this thread.

160 lb to 195 lb ladies with junk in the trunk are my sweet spot. Even up to 205 lbs for the right frame girl. That is the range I operate in.

They might as well have a bullseye on them when I see them at the club.

Much like General Beauregard, I enjoy the company of a plump woman.

Agreed, but no one is celebrating the vices you listed above. When the CIA is running ads with a transgender(and celebrating it), I think we've jumped the shark on that issue.

Same with being overweight. God didn't intend for man/woman to be 3 bills or more while living on a diet of Bon Bon's, Cheeto's and Chicken Wings.

I seriously doubt that a Primary Care Dr. is going to encourage someone in that condition to, "keep up what you are doing".

Addicts get much more cover than fats IMO but reasonable minds can disagree.

Agree again. Cover is one thing, encouraging the behavior is another.
I guess I just don't see the "encouraging" fats?

Seems like they get plenty of cover but the whole go healthy movement has really touched most parts of society from a left to right perspective IMO.

Now with vaping, gambling, smoking, drinking, pain killers, street drugs, were talking about being 99% of the way to encouraging in large parts of society with doctors and their prescriptions being just one example.

You summarized the human condition in your last paragraph. We are all faulty and run the risk of sliding into a bad behavior even though the initial intent(Dr. prescription) was good.
Where I've noticed it more I guess with being fat is with something like the overweight super model in a bikini in SI.
Where some might see something as being more subtle, others may see it as more overt.

The problem with this logic is:

WHO DECIDES? Is 1 person the king? Does everyone get a say (B/C this is where we are right now).

you are literally acting as the decider. So what if you think 175 is ok BUT a person weights 176.....they must be (forced) to get help? I added forced in there bc you seem to be positive that all the fat people are just waiting for someone to get the proper help. I don’t claim to know or want to make decisions on others lives.

I as a patriot....want less incursion into ALL LIVES. Let people live their lives how the choose.

All I'm trying to say is if I see a fat fuck and I call him a fat fuck (man or women) don't get offended and be a pussy about it

Oh I love thicc girls, but there is a limit. If I can eat an entire 3 layer cake off of your ass without it falling off it's probably time for you to hit the gym. Plus it doesn't age that well. How many "Thicc" grandmas do you see?

Whoa now....thats NOT at ALL what you said.

I am all for calling a fat a fat and whatnot....

But I am NOT for a system/gov where others can tell you how to live your live based on their scale.

Freedom is knowing I don't have THOSE rights because NO ONE has THOSE rights over me.

I mean you will always have a societal "normal". This will differ based on country and city. The common person will tend to edge people that don't "fit in" to the societal norm. Government or no government.

No where in my comments do I say we should force or even shame fats to losing weight. If you want to eat yourself into oblivion, have at it.
My position is simply that we shouldn’t celebrate it. If someone is holding up Stacy Abrams as a model of health, I simply disagree. At her weight, she is more predisposed to hyper tension, high BP, heart disease, diabetes and other physical challenges.
I’m not in anyway going to go out of my way to intrude into her life and try and force to do anything.
I agree about less intrusions. Do what you want, but you don’t get to bitch about the consequences.

Oh ok yeah. For the record I am NOT ok with the Government telling people how to live their lives. As for the Golden Rule. If I'm living an unhealthy lifestyle I would want somebody to bring it to my attention and help me through it for my own personal benefit. ESPECIALLY my Doctor.
