I'm not opposed to facts, by any means, but is it such a bad thing to also consider feelings? Think about any memory you have, do you actually remember an event or how you felt about that event? As for BLM, sure they aren't a perfect organization either but they are a needed response to systematic racism. If there was a better group doing that work, I'd be happy to support them. I can't just stand by and let people be killed because of the color of their skin.

I live in the heart of the most liberal city in Tennessee and what I read on messageboards and interacting in real life are nothing like each other. The person I’d drink and listen to music with on an all night session is completely opposite politically than me. The thought of not wanting to interact with him due to politics sounds very sad.

That doesn't describe me at all. I've lived my life through several versions, had friends & girlfriends of all walks - rural, urban, color, orientation, druggies, weirdos, straight as an arrow, etc. I get alone well with 99% of people in public. I work for a large university and most of my co-workers are liberal if not ultra-liberal. I get along great with all of them.

Here though, this is the one site where I get the majority of my political info and discourse. I really don't want to relive TMB. It was unbearable before I left.
