Col Macgregor said something I found curious the other day. He said that he's been told KY and WV have buried decades of remnants from coal production that are full of rare earth. He said they weren't that important back in the day and were too expensive to extract. He was saying he thinks Ukr RE estimates are way overblown to justify letting them into the EU.

Weird that I've lived in KY for most of my life and never heard there were rare earth metals here. I used to go ride 4 wheelers on one reclaimed area that was an old mine. Just thinking of how they clean those sites... I would think it would be pretty easy to excavate the RE.

Edit, all speculation. No entry, but by spreading this it could push the odds of actually auditting that place.. It would make so much sense for large parts to be gone.
