Swami isn't a real candidate. He has this ridiculous pyramid scheme for fundraising, since the only significant contributions he's received have been his own. He's a deep state plant to protect Trump's right flank. Trump wants no part of a debate on stage with Desantis, so Trump would sit out any debates, he's already said that he would, and the younger fresher candidate who is no threat to Trump's spot will be his proxy. It's comical that people don't see swami for who he is.
Trump has moved significantly left on social issues, foolishly believing it will enlarge his tent, using Lee Atwater terms. Instead, his tent has shrunk dramatically. He had 95%+ republican approval in 2020. Now, if you believe polls he brags about daily, he has only 50% support. He's a hateful, spiteful man. He will struggle to win back many of those who have left him. Like me, I'd imagine much of that 50% have looked at his record and found him to be a liar who doesn't even try to deliver on his promises, grossly incompetent, or more likely, both. That # will grow as people lose relatives to Trump's killshot, or experience health issues themselves.
Trump needed more voters, so he went after the gays, Melania in tow. When I showed my secretary what went on at maralago, she cringed. One less voter Trump under his tent. He was terrified of Roe v Wade because leftover Bushites still have his ear, blamed evangelicals and extreme abortion positions for mid term losses, and staked out his current position by saying Desantis is too tough on abortion. His move back to the pre-2015 Donald Trump isn't new, he's ran this gambit many times in his life, arms wrapped around Jesse Jackson and lips kissing the cheek of Hillary Clinton. It's who he is.
I don't think there will be an election in '24, but if there is, it won't be real. The DS is working to solidify Trump. He goes down in the polls, fundraising tanks, indict him. He surges every time they do. People who have planned the takeover of the entire world for decades are not stupid: they know exactly the impact of say, additional Trump indictments, ridiculously unfair news coverage, etc just as they knew what would happen to the electorate with the overturning of RvW.
If they can push Trump across the GOP finish line, they won't even have to cheat to win. Trump - contrary to what people think - does not have the $ to finance his own campaign. The rich guys who funded him in '16 & '20 are done with him. He'll have no $, a GOP that organizationally hates him, and daily new stories about this indictment or that one. He'll be a sitting duck who couldn't beat anyone.
