Won't happen. Air Force looked into it a few years ago. Read a few articles about it then. Can't export the F-22 due to the Obey Amendment, F35 obviously can be exported. Japan and Israel were interested in helping with a restart.
Quick search shows the F35 @ $44k a hour vs the F22's $60k. I would think a good chunk of this has to do with the stealth coating/RAM that often needs repaired. Haven't looked into this lately.
It was reported a month or two ago that we have already flown a full scale 6th gen airframe. If anything, the F35 numbers will be cut in favor of the new plane when it comes along. Apparently that is happening at a much quicker pace than ever. No one even knew they were past the planning stages of the new plane until they announced it had flown.
You can thank the fall of the Soviet Union and the short sightedness of the Government for the small amount of F22's. They shit the bed on that one.
