I was off the thread for a few hours today. Had to go take care of my bot farm.

Using USB boot support would provide a mechanism for a computer to override the default startup process with whatever customizations exist on the USB stick.
One could theoretically install a set of software visually identical to the original manufacturers settings, but add their own modifications in as to compromise the system in question. Anyone not checking over the system for physical tampering (both visual identification of the USB stick, as well as unplugging it) at the moment of use would be none the wiser. Once you unplug the USB stick, the computer could reboot back to the original manufacturers settings.
To add context to this:
What you are seeing is the internal ‘boot order’ or instructions the computer is supposed to follow when starting up.
It can be configured to boot (in any order) by checking the local hard drive, the network (PXE boot/Integrated Network Interface Card, or NIC), a usb inserted into the device or by any other supported means.
These are typically LOCKED DOWN hard and inaccessible in corporate settings.
