THREAD PREFIXES

The Purpose of Thread Prefixes

Thread prefixes are used to categorize and organize threads within forums, making it easier for users to identify the topic or type of content at a glance. They help maintain order and improve navigation by allowing users to filter threads based on specific prefixes.

Here at TFSF, we are (currently) using 9 distinct primary thread prefix categories with one being split into 2 sub-categories:
1. LAC (Law Abiding Citizens)
-Vol. 1 (locked)
-Vol. 2 (active)
2. Social
3. Debate
4. Media
5. News
6. Sports
7. Rebarcock.
8. Resource
9. Official

Category Descriptions

1. LAC Category
-Vol. 1: The first LAC thread (closed)
-Vol. 2: The current LAC thread (active)
The 'LAC' category is not a thread prefix itself but a parent designation for a developing collection of (currently 2) sub-categorized LAC thread prefix volumes.

The 'Vol. 1' thread prefix specifically applies to the original 900+ page mega LAC thread which eventually grew so large it had to be locked, and continued in a fresh thread as a second volume.

The 'Vol. 2' thread prefix applies to the current active continuation of the original first volume.
(*Once volume 2 reaches 1000 pages, it will be locked and continued in a fresh thread to be prefixed as Vol. 3, then Vol. 4, Vol.5, and so on.

2. Social Category
The 'Social' thread prefix covers the more relaxed and topically generalized discussions, like casual chats, personal introductions, daily life, hobbies, humor, or whatever. For when you’re just shooting the breeze.

3. Debate Category
The 'Debate' thread prefix covers politics, religion, philosophy, deep-dives, conspiracies, controversial social issues, and whatnot. If the goal of the thread is to argue a position or challenge an ideology, it gets this prefix.

4. Media Category
The 'Media' thread prefix is for all topics of discussion regarding movies, music, television, gaming, art, literature, and such.

5. News Category
The 'News' thread prefix is dedicated to current events and real-time headlines. This includes local, national, and global reports, with the focus on sharing a "Raw Feed" of what is happening in the world right now, ideally with a source link provided.

6. Sports Category
The 'Sports' thread prefix is for all sport related discussions, scores, team rivalries, draft talk, athletic performance, etcetera. From the NFL to local circuits, if it involves a scoreboard and a winner, it’s a sports topic.

7. Rebarcock. Category
The 'Rebarcock.' thread prefix is dedicated in memory of—and applied to all original threads created by—the legendary founding member Patt Flood as his online character Rebarcock. The primary purpose of this prefix category is to serve as an archive, ensuring Patt's contributions are easily accessible and not simply lost in the uncategorized void.

8. Resource Category (admin use only)
The 'Resource' thread prefix covers utility threads hosting genuine practical advice, tips, tricks, "how-to" guides, and other useful/helpful material contributed by members of the community—for the benefit of the community overall.
(*this prefix is now restricted )

9. Official Category (admin use only)
The 'Official' thread prefix is reserved for formal communications threads that carry the weight of the forum’s administration and contain essential information, such as rules, guides, updates, and etcetera.

Thread Management

1. The 1,000-Page Limit
To maintain site speed and database stability, all threads reaching 1,000 pages (approx. 20,000 posts) will be locked, and continued as a "part 2" with a fresh thread.

2. The "Part 2" Transition
When a thousand page thread is locked, the community is encouraged to start a "part 2" to continue the discussion. This keeps the "active" data lean and the site snappy for mobile users.

3. Media Embed Discipline:
To prevent page lag, data-heavy "junk" clogging the feed, and the inevitable piles of broken embed links to deal with. Posts are limited to 1 external media embed (X, YouTube, etc.) each.

4. Why?
We prioritize a functional, fast forum over bloated "mega-threads" that hog the site's resources. It’s about keeping the stadium standing so the game can keep playing.
