With Thanksgiving now just a week away, share what you're planning on eating and drinking in the week leading up to Thanksgiving and the days after. If you're talking about your thanksgiving day meal, provide some specifics at my menu could still be changed to include something else.

My Thanksgiving menu is looking a bit weak and needs something to spice it up a bit. Any suggestions?

Thanksgiving meal:
-Turkey (probably going to be pretty standard. Will fill the cavity with vegetables and herbs, and also rub some butter and herbs under the skin to help keep it moist and tasty. Probably apply a rub of some sort to the skin, but am open to ideas.
-Stuffing, pretty traditional
-Green bean casserole
-Cranberry Sauce
-Mashed potatoes & gravy
- Sweet Hawaiian rolls

Dessert:
The GOAT - Homemade Pumpkin Pie (Don't bother me with the junk from the store) & Whipped cream

Drink:
Wine (none picked out yet)
Bourbon and/or whiskey. Some of my favorites that I have on hand currently are:

The lady and I have been drinking Monkey Shoulder lately. Really like it. Dreaming Tree Red blend as well.

Pretty traditional dinner for us this year.
You just drinking the Monkey shoulder neat? On ice? I had some of that a while back, but at the moment, I have too many other bottles and need to drink more before buying much else.

Pretty much the same menu at our house. Except I rarely drink hard liquor anymore, mostly beer and wine. My wife also makes a corn casserole and we’ll have some sort of meat and cheese board.

Has anyone smoked a turkey on a pellet smoker? Good/bad?

I've done chicken a bunch of times, but haven't done turkey on a pellet. May have to consider trying that. I'm sure there are some good recipes / youtube videos talking about doing it. I love the way the chicken turns out though. The main thing would be to make sure it doesn't get too dry.

Scotch. whiskey, Bourbon...all good in my world and my girl likes it more than I do
I like all of them also, but sometimes the scotch gets a little too smoky and peaty for me. I can't remember which one it was that I had a while back, and though it tasted pretty good going down, the smoke flavor stuck on my mouth for hours, like I was breathing out camp fire or something. LOL.

Still better than me in my drinking days...absolute alcoholic, chasing 190 proof Everclear with shots of 110 proof Vodka...very happy to be free from it, though at times I still envy those that don't have the gene lol

I've decided to do an Italian Food Thanksgiving. Wasn't feeling turkey this year (first time ever).

Appetizers/Sides
Chicken Parm Sausage Bites
Ricotta Cheese Balls
Antipasto platter
A salad of some sort I'm sure
Shrimp Cocktail
Proscuitto wrapped cheese

Garlic Bread and Dinner Rolls

Entrees:
Lasagna
Crock pot of homemade meatballs simmered in sauce

Desserts:
Pumpkin Pie
Cannoli

Yikes, yeah, that's rough. My old college roommate was similar with the Everclear. I'm a lightweight these days, and typically don't drink more than 2 pours of whiskey in a night. May mix it with a little beer or wine, but the hard stuff messes with me if I have too much.

I'm all for some non-traditional Thanksgiving meals. That sounds amazing, especially the Chicken parm sausage bites and the meatballs!

I'm not a cannoli fan personally, but as long as you have Pumpkin pie...

Pretty good fried as well. I live on the coast, so they yare readily available and fresh as can be. Always loved oysters
I need to look it up to find a good place to get some in Vegas. We get tons of fresh seafood shipped in from CA, so I'm sure there are some good places around town. That's definitely not something that I want to go to the cheapest place to try

Definitely. Vegas has some of the best seafood and food from all around the globe. No worries about it being top quality/freshness in that city. I get them in the northeast section of the country. I live on the CT coast and am not too far from world class oyster grounds. Pretty much all seafood really.

Is there any particular preparation that you would recommend I try? Or are they basically always served the same way?
