I will pass on the glycogen restore crap. That is exactly what I do not want. Fuck the glycogen.

However, I bought some C4 pre-workout. Going to ditch the Bang colas.
C4 makes pre workout energy drinks which are great. Not sure if it’s an exact replica of their pre workout formula but I like carbonation so I’ll drink those from time to time.

I tried the one that is flavored like strawberry starburst and it was very good.

Before our second son was born, I would always train at 5:00-5:15 am. Loved getting the work in and out of the way so I could do other stuff after work instead of training. With him finally starting to sleep, I decided to start back up in the morning. Just finished my first morning workout and man it feels great to get it done. It's a tough switch but once your body adjusts it's great. Everyone else is sleeping so I don't have to worry about anything but my workout.

Just cycled off of Keto after 6 weeks. I don't think I dropped any weight but I feel much better without the carb bloat.
I'm an old(59) and just do maintenance workouts and stretching. Someone else recommended creatine as a post work supplement and I've had good success there.
Trying to get back into pickleball(did I mention I'm an old?) shape after a ruptured biceps earlier this year.
Getting old ain't for the faint of heart!

I agree. During the school year I am refer 5:30 am and it’s great to start the day and get it out of the way. With work and after school activities it’s easy to miss workouts.

This summer I’ve been working out in the afternoon but will be switching back soon. It does seem like I can lift heavier in my afternoon workouts.

Hey pickle ball is awesome. I play with my in-laws when we visit and always have a blast. My 95 year old grandma plays with pickle all with people 20 years younger than her.

I thought creatine was the pre-workout supplement.

Daggum, I hate people who talk to you at the gym. I friggen hate it and I wear headphones.

My son and I are at the gym last night and we were working out on a Smith Machine. They have 4 Smith Machines at the gym and all were taken.

We are 5 minutes in and this dude comes up and asks how long we are going to be. I have to take off my headphones to listen to what this loser has to say.

He asks how long we are going to be. He asks two people using a Smith machine how long they are going to so that just him can use it so he can sit there doing nothing but resting between sets.

I tell him we are going to be there a long time and put back in my headphones. I said that because he pissed me off. Who interrupts anyone like that at the gym?

He went further down and asked some other dude and he gave up his spot. Not me. Don't be an asshole and don't interrupt someone unless it is important or an emergency like the gym is on fire or Austin Riley twisted his ankle.

You wanting a Smith machine is not important. Wait your turn like everyone else and grab it as soon as it is free.

I hope that dude gets monkey pox. Fuck off, asshole.

BTW, I tweaked my back doing barbell rows yesterday afternoon.

Dropped the weight and spent time in pain yesterday afternoon and worried I had herniated a disc.

My son rightly chastised me for always trying to go in weight it finally caught up with me.

I was in the chiros office first thing this morning.

I am already feeling much, much better. No herniated discs, just a tweak and a lesson learned.

I am going to ease up on the weight after I rest for a week. Also, I am going to be a form nazi.

Proper form or not doing it.

As I said, lesson learned. That shit hurt and I was not sure I remain vertical for long yesterday afternoon.

My latest over is I dropped keto. Vacation, plus lake trip, plus stress at work and overall lack of discipline culminated

I’ve barely been able to work out the last couple weeks too

I’m still down double digits in weight and gonna get things back going in the gym today.

I never was able to get up to full strength on keto, so I will hopefully bounce back there

What are you guys' go to exercises? And also your weekly routines? Do you have a schedule, or just kind of do what you feel like on a particular day? I think it would be easier for me to keep on track if I create a schedule to stick to

I follow this pretty religiously. Been doing it a couple years at least. I always keep my workouts scaled down though because I’m not trying to be some kind of competitive athlete.

I absolutely love it.

Just check every morning to see what the workout is and then knock it out when I get home from work

I’ve got a set of bumper plates and Olympic bar from rogue I bought about 8 years ago. Along with a full rack.

Spent probably $1500 on all my equipment and have used it pretty consistently through the years. Averages out to a $15/month gym membership over that time frame and I never leave the house

Day 1 - Chest and Shoulders - A lot of presses
Day 2 - Cardio (Arc Trainer for at least an hour)
Day 3 - Back and Biceps - A lot of rows......some curls
Day 4 - Cardio (Arc Trainer)
Day 5 - Legs and Core - squats, extensions, hammys, calfs, core work
Repeat

Gotcha. Smart man.

If you look at college weight rooms now, they are mainly just tricked out stations.

They are basically just pimped out smith machies....though you do real bench preses and squats, not on the guided rail.

I have thought of investing in a Smith Machine. You could basically do everything.

These days, I do most of my workouts at home too, but I am definitely lacking in equipment. Everything is so ridiculously expensive right now though, I don't know that I want to buy a lot more. I have an olympic cage that I can do squats, bench, lat pull downs, rows, etc in. Also have a bench that can go incline and some dumbbells, but am definitely short on those. Have a kettle bell and also some bands that I use for shoulder work and pull up assists at times.

For cardio, I have an old Lemond Revmaster stationary bike, a rowing machine, and an old treadmill. I'm thinking of upgrading the treadmill to either a newer better one, or maybe to an elliptical, since I know my wife would use that more. That arc trainer that @AgEngDawg mentioned could be a good one.

You got a pull up bar? Pull up bar mounted to my ceiling joists gets as much work as anything

I like the Arc Trainer a lot.

I don't want to do the regular treadmill because I am worried about my knees.

The arc trainer is easy on your knees. Mine are never sore after using it at the gym.

It is also a harder workout than the eliptical. It is more challenging that the elliptical.

Pounding on the treadmill also sometimes gets to my back so the Arc Trainer is more gentle on back also.

Yeah, it's built into the squat rack. I just have to bend my knees when I do them so I can hang....or use my feet to cheat a bit at the bottom ;)

I just looked them up real quick...they're pretty spendy. Do you have one at home, or just use the one at the gym?

Looks kind of like an elliptical. How does it differ?
