My buddy @Oklahoma pointed out earlier today that the Left has been at this for decades, playing a long game for societal and cultural control.

Their influence is near absolute in all critical organs of society, like education, media, entertainment, tech, e.t.c.

The Dems are happy to bestow functional sovereignty to MegaCorps, as long as the MegaCorps steer Civilization and culture as demanded.

So, how does one consistently choose alternatives to the MegaCorps that will protect dems and the establishment?

A pet project of mine will be to sit down and try to map out how someone can mitigate the money they send to companies that don't reflect their values. It's unrealistic to avoid all of these companies 100%, but there are certainly mitigation strategies that, if adopted by large numbers, can have an impact.

The Left was at the forefront of organizing at the grass roots. As much as it's not in the DNA of the center-right individual, we have to act in numbers in order to *begin* pushing back.

Tim Pool was talking about rural areas seceding and said "You would die without cities to provide your electric and manufacturing".... I don't know if he is ill informed or retarted but our liberal cities don't PRODUCE anything anymore. They mainly provide financial, legal or tech services. Electric Generation is done mostly outside of large urban areas and almost every lineman I know hates liberals. Almost every truck driver I know hates liberals. Every single farmer I know hates liberals. Manufacturing has flipped from dems almost every year I've been alive and outside of gov unions I don't think a single Union voted for Biden in majority.

I've said it before... Cut off the electric and food to the cities for 3 days a watch them collapse into a freak show. It's the only play we have if Biden goes full on Mao or Stalin.

I sure hope it doesnt come to this point. That's drastic, even by the new standard set by the last 3 days.

My goal, initially, is to apply market pressure on companies that dont align (or at least respectfully stay hands-off) a center right philosophy. And a hopeful byproduct is the advancement of alternatives that wont leave folks like me at the mercy of the whims and wiles of those corps.

Yep especially food supplies. No way they would last a week without food being trucked in.

Agreed but Im just saying that is only weapon at this point if Biden/kamala go full blown nazi. They have all the media and tech so it's not like the unfettered truth is getting out to the public. Every day it seems Biden is making more crazy statements about crackdowns and he's not even in office yet.

This is actually the way people need to think.

Nothing is actually produced in cities. It's imaginary besides the soy lattes.

LACs (tradesmen) only need each other. Could trade services, food, and ammo among ourselves and never miss a beat for 2-3 years in an extreme situation.

Now I don't think we'll see government collapse for 3 years but cities would look like Minnesota this summer within minutes of the lights going out.

The biggest cities have the biggest ports. We cut off cities, we cut off imports. Unfortunately the establishment has created a huge demand for imports. Most everything we use for every day life is produced in other countries and shipped here. We need to produce here!

I am actually working on something similar. A way to promote and network with companies that share our belief systems.

One pet project I have been interested in is investing in server farms. Basically digital real estate that is not controlled by our corporate overlords

This platform could be a jumping off point to transition into that.
Would that not be the guts or core of ensuring the integrity of an alternative environment in which to do business (along with fiber infrastructure)?

Yeah absolutely. It's basically like the office space but not the utilities.

Right now we are leasing office space (server space) and are beholden to the company we use. Currently we are trying to move our lease to a better location because there are "too many people in the building".

If this holds traction, eventually we will invest in our own infrastructure. As we get that in place, we could also provide infrastructure for likeminded people that are pushed off of existing servers because they do not comply with the corporate status quo.

The network infrastructure is another animal - and I've got some ideas there - but we gotta take care of first things first

But I really hope that we can use this site as a spear head to organize and show some influence. It's not about right or left for me - it's about fighting back against all the thought control
Agree 100%. Differing ideas are encouraged and intelligent and honest debate with participants open to evaluating and possibly updating their own mental models is ultimately what gets us closest to some sort of societal optimization.

I'd argue it's a (if not THE) core value of Western society since the Enlightenment.

That's exciting stuff.

If you don't mind, what's the up front and upkeep cost of a server? How much of its capabilities or resources would a website like this one occupy, presumably leaving the remainder for renting out. Is that how that would work?

Lastly, as an aside, does Elon Musk have public thoughts on freedom of discourse? Because if he's friendly/for it, then his Starlink would seem a natural vendor for network infrastructure.

Gonna be a bit of a learning curve on cost and upkeep, but I know the right people to get involved. To some degree a server is just a computer that has been set up in a specific configuration and connected to the network. So any computer can be repurposed to be a server (even a raspberry pi).

Basically RAM banks and solid state drives in a computer chassis configured for network accessible storage. I would guess around $2k for the hardware for a site like this? I'll report back as I learn.

But the hardware is only part of the problem - you need somewhere to actually keep it heated and cooled with electricity and internet access - you can do it in your home - but not something I'd be looking at doing. Eventually you would want to find a cheap warehouse somewhere with access to high speed internet. And then you will need IT support to set it up and maintain it.

I've always paid hostgator for server space previously (and thats what we are doing now). I've made websites for friends and family and did a couple professional ones in the last year with Croot_Lord. If you buy in bulk and use a good coupon code you can get the price down. I think we paid about $1500 for two years of time for the one we are on now, but we are going to be upgrading soon so that cost is probably going to double. But if you are on a shitty shared server you can get a couple years for $300-400 but its not going to handle more than a couple people on the site at a time before it starts to lag

That's really interesting info. I don't know why I haven't investigated this as a business model before. I'm 100% certain I'll have more questions shortly.

Do you have an idea if there's a glut or demand for hosting space?

Per the original topic of strategies to avoid paying hostile corps, does anyone have an alternative to Google or Amazon music? Over the years I've accumulated a collection of songs I purchased through Google. They are now moving to a subscription model, which I reject. I believe I'll likely buy a digital Walkman and find an alternative site for music purchase, possibly going directly to the artists where available.

Tl/dr - Moving music collecting away from Google, since they are asshoe. Digital Walkman with Sony OS seems promising. Looking for alternative music vendors.

I'm not really looking at it from a competitive standpoint, more of a self-sufficiency standpoint. Kind of a build your own internet thing, but you gotta do first things first. But once you have a process you can implement and know the recipe you can scale things pretty quickly.

I just use Spotify for music and at this point still vote with convenience/value over privacy/politics on most of my goods and services. I really don't trust any one or anything, so I just do what makes my life easiest.

Kinda like privacy - I could take extraordinary measures to ensure my online privacy, but I really don't care. Plus I'm sure I've got big brother logging everything I do just because of my expertise is some areas and it would be a huge pain in the ass to deal with the trouble.

I think one of the most important things people can be doing right now is building physical libraries. We are at peak Information Age right now and there is more available at our finger tips than there might ever be again.

I have a strong suspicion that we are going to see books and ideas of all kinds censored going forward. Any philosophy or religion that could encourage you to act or think for yourself will be incredible dangerous. Books on how mind control, hypnosis and brain washing can be found pretty easy right now - but prob not forever. And not even to mention practical science

Might sound like nothing but spending your dollars with local merchants staves off what the left is doing. They want to starve out Conservatism and we have to starve out socialism. Its sort of the same concept of Conservatives owning AM radio. The left tried to bring in the fairness doctrine and their Air America experiment. Shopping local can lead to shop conservative. It takes both discipline and sacrifice but it works.

Maybe we can set up a thread or a specific forum on here that is the Crootn black market and let all of our members that are small business producers sell their products

This thread is a great idea!

Not gonna lie, from what I can tell looms like it will be hard, but we have to make these faggots pay for the evil they've done. Even if someone dosen't like Trump (all my family) it's fairly obvious that what's going on is bad and scary. My brother and sister are both oddly quiet with what's going on as of late. I feel they both can see the censoring as an enormously bad precedent.

I'm not on twitter, and while I have a Facebook account I haven't posted in 11 years and dont care to look. Apple and Google need to feel it, and the only way that happens is thru the pocket book. I'd love to see what we can do!

We need to elect a council at some point. We need to do it in a way that we don’t get a cluster of people with similar viewpoints - so we are going to be a republic over here and not a democracy.

Maybe a few elected by popular vote and then maybe a few just get hand selected for now.

It’s manifest destiny over here. I started looking at the internet as a collection of countries. We don’t agree with their digital government so we are going to create our own. We are just seeking a new frontier and are going to build our community from the ground up

In.

I think if this is the direction you want to go we need a council but also people need to start to think about funding and the infrastructure. How big are we talking this? Hopefully it turns out HUGE!

I doesn't feel like we could move too quickly but it's not my rodeo. I'm just here to ask dumb questions and to saddle up for the long haul.

As far as funding the infrastructure, we are good for the next couple years - assuming we don’t get shut down by our hosting platform but I think we are good there. We are already paid up for a year.

The challenge with funds short term is getting staff. $7000 in donation is nice, but when you think about paying just one IT persons salary - that gets you a month. We will be able to get by and support the forum as it is with in “intern” based program though in the near term.

But mid/long term I want to be targeting a couple software guys to build our own platform. Not exactly what that looks like yet, but it needs to be unique. But just to get salary for a couple good software folks we are going to need a couple hundred thousand.

The hardware infrastructure will be a separate venture that can come afterwards because it will be the most capital intensive.

I plan on canvassing for investors in the next month or so just to see what kind of interest we get. I already know some folks are there. I think the membership suggestion fell a bit flat on some (not all) because maybe it was misunderstood.

But yeah I’ve got my sights on something big. We’ve already done something huge on a small scale over here (if that makes sense).

Man I thought I was content with supporting TFSF because of the righteous fundamental principles.
Obviously that's merely the tip of a righteous iceberg.
I am inspired by the incredible potential that is perceptible from the expressions posted in this thread 14 months ago.
I'm very eager to offer my allegiance and support, if y'all would be willing to consider a foreign asset.
Either way, I'm still gonna continue financial support,...I've been thinking of a few other beneficial ideas too.

Yeah man! No doubt you are already a huge asset to this forum.

I have a tendency at times (pretty much all the time) of getting the cart before the horse, but IMO the focus now needs to be growth. Larger the community, the larger the influence we can exert.

We have learned a lot over the last year or so. We just need to take it slow, grow our membership, grow our resources, grow our influence. I've got access to all the know how (not me specifically, but people I know) to do anything we could imagine. Slow and steady
