What area are you in? Low 80s as a freshman is good. I sat high 70s as a freshman. Ended up sitting low 90s as a senior and got drafted out of HS. Baseball was my only sport. Gave up basketball when I was a freshman to focus on baseball. I also knew I wouldn’t go anywhere with hoops and my future was playing baseball even though I liked basketball more.
But yes he will get a ton of looks. Especially if his velo continues to grow. What 4 pitches does he throw? Heater, change up, curveball, slider?
When was this? 80's, 90's? and you gained over 20 mph velo in highschool? Everybody throws 85+ now. Lol its insane. Our Highschools staff is id say top in Florida and one of the top in the country. Weve been up to #2 in Florida and 5 in the country this year. Ridiculous staff this year. Lost a few with some sicknesses.

Caught that driving back to work after lunch yesterday, just had to laugh, like wtf, our country is being driven like that ship in the Suez, we’re fucked and losing billions a day

When you combine all the individual events that are currently happening or will shortly, you can see this is an assault on the American economy. There are signs too. Housing demand has slowed dramatically in some areas. Unemployment is up higher than expected(will continue through summer), the narrative about masking and continued shutdowns(Gates latest projections of 2022 for normalcy).
Throw in the border issue and now the Suez Canal. More will occur for sure. I hope like hell we are watching a movie cause the pain is coming for sure.

My great nephew is an outstanding baseball player. He plays on select baseball teams since there is no Little League or Pony League in his city. Last year he was overused by his coach to the point of complaining about a sore arm. His coach used to pitch him either as a starter or reliever in all 5 games played in a weekend tournament. He was so overworked that at 12 y/o he was sent to therapy. His Mother and therapist (former pro player) put a stop to him throwing more pitches in a week than Little League allowed. Covid brought a halt to this abuse as it allowed time to rest--which is about the only good thing of Covid. Now, as a 13 y/o 8th grader, he was chosen to play on a 10th grade select team this summer. His arm issues seem to be in the past and he is on a strict pitch count per week including practice. I am aware of two college baseball programs which already know about him. One is his dream school. He is also the starting QB on his JrHS football team and he's growing like a weed which makes curve balls and sliders off limits during this growth spell. Just fast balls or off speed and work on location.
Lol what a cluster F everything you type is. If true... Zero Schools are looking at an 8th grader. Zero. Baseball isnt like that. And Does the kid not have parents? If a coach is or has done that and is still coaching id be surprised. Im having a hard time believing you btw. Where does the kid live? And play? What schools are looking at him? LOL. Wonder why you'd make that up though

i have a 9YO that has played rec ball and was asked to join a travel team due to his pitching. The rec team has used him a fair amount as a starter because he's a machine at throwing strikes. When you guys are saying "overthowing", what would you say is too much for a kid his age? All he's doing at this point is throwing fastballs.
Always error on the side of throwing less at that age. A lot of it is common sense imo. Kids shouldn’t have 35 pitch or more innings. Shouldn’t throw on back to back days. And generally if you follow the Little League guidelines for pitch counts you should be fine. Just don’t let some random coach talk you into letting him throw more. It’s not worth it at young ages.

I agree that a lot of the stuff that he said was bad in a baseball sense. But you are incorrect on the recruiting aspect thing. Baseball has become insanely early in terms of recruiting. There are countless freshmen across the country now who are already committed 4 year colleges. I’m not saying I agree with it because I don’t. But that is the landscape that exists nowadays.

Im saying 40-60 pitches. My son just threw a complete 5 inning game 62 pitches. Not sure how i feel about that yet and might work it back to no more then 40 pitches. 60 is absolute max limit. You need to monitor it and manage it imo.

I didnt mean it like they arent getting looks. I meant unless hes a serious stud he aint getting looks from anybody. Im currently involved in it. Its a weird dynamic. Yes my son almost committed as a sophomore.
Our HS team currently has 2 UF commits, 1 FSU Commit, 1 Miami Commit, 2 Stetson commits, 1 FIU Commit, 1 UMASS Commit, and 2 JUCO Commits.
Weve also just had the #9 pick in the draft last year. I dont think its good or bad so early in the process.
Im well versed and involved in the process. I played baseball in college and went through the process

Game has changed. Son plays in an organization that has two 2025 kids that have committed to South Carolina. Playing against a team this week that has a kid committed to Tennessee and one to GT. All kids are from the ATL area.

going to start a kids baseball thread....

We are in the process now... Both my sons 10U and 17 (2022) play in the scorpions organization in Central Florida.
Early Commits and or looks are for Studs only. Eli Pitts is a stud for being a baby. Hes also a man boy. lol

Studs only not just good players, studs get looks. Perfect Game gets them out there. my older son was on the verge of a commitment in 10th but thinks he wants to be a boxer. Not sure what to do as we love both sports. Schools of interest were UVA, SC, Stetson, UF MIAMI FSU FIU UCF.
It was crazy

Not sure if everybody here knows. For Georgia or the GOP run Congress in Georgia just did a huge overhaul of the way to vote in Georgia. Long overdue and it’s basically based after the way Florida does it. that’s good news

it would have certainly helped Trump and both Republican senators. But moving forward it’s a huge improvement. And in other news major league baseball it’s starting to look like a bunch of clowns like the NBA

Also it’s funny And pathetic how the left all across the country and in Georgia think that this is racist. Now that they can’t cheat as easy.

I'm irrationally angry after reading this (as a Georgian)...I know Biden didn't write it, as he has zero capacity, but the fvcking lies and complete distortion to the American public, who sadly is largely too dumb to see it, fvcking pisses me off. "I will take my case to the American people" my ass Joe...you can't even get through a scripted presser with a fvcking kindergarten cheat sheet!!! Holy shit...where's the Tylenol?!

Sorry /rant

Not written in crayon, so definitely not Joe Borderin's words

Ted Cruz telling reporters he’s not gonna wear a mask when he’s talking to the TV and they’re welcome to step back if they have a problem with it
