• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

OK, Pete needs to bring back the Confederate names to military bases.

However, bring back better ones. Bragg, Hood, and Benning were not good generals.

Rename them Cleburne, Fort Stonewall, and Fort Marse Robert.

Also, name one of the Virginia class submarines the USS Raphael Semmes.
No. Stupid. Was stupid to change it and now stupid to change it back. We are trying to PREVENT fraud, waste and abuse.

Today is the one year anniversary of the passing of my Father. Miss him everyday.

It also happens to be my wedding anniversary date. It instantly became a bittersweet day last year.

I'm trying to muster the energy to get in a celebratory mood to go to dinner with my Wife and Mom.
Been 32 years today for me and the shield maiden. SKOL on that! Sorry about your pops, lost both my parents last year and know that hurt is still fresh.

My Dad passed away almost 12 years ago. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him and they are always the good times we had. Prayers sent to you, your Mom and family.

@ttyh @Viking and other posters who have lost their Dads.

One of the most vivid things my mind often flashes back to is playing Little League baseball and being able to pick his voice out of the crowd cheering although not knowing where he was sitting. I could hear the various voices in the crowd but his voice stood out.

I'm sure you have similar experiences.

Absolutely. My Dad was also Coach in baseball, basketball and soccer. Guy had no idea what soccer even was when he committed to coaching. He went to the library and checked out a few books and the rest was history. We ended up having one of the more successful travel soccer programs out of Meyer Park in Klein/Spring, TX, which is one of the more competitive areas for club soccer in the country. Some of my best memories.

And I know that sound of his voice you reference. Man, it would boom in a basketball gym.

Thanks for that note. I think it's getting me up off the mat for dinner. He would want me to celebrate.
