Disney CEO Vows More Gay Content For Children
Parents are pushing back after Disney announced plans for a task force to include more LGBTQ content in its films and TV shows as the company simultaneously faces a massive employee walkout over its response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill.
In a town hall meeting on Monday, CEO Bob Chapek said the entertainment behemoth would put together a task force to ensure that more LGBTQ-awareness content is available for children.
Meanwhile, the company is gearing up for a walkout on Tuesday by employees who are unhappy with the conglomerate's slow response to Florida's bill, which bans the teaching of lessons on sexuality, gender identity, and sexual orientation 'in a manner that is not age-appropriate.'
About three-quarters of Disney's 190,000 employees work at its theme parks in Orlando, Florida, and Anaheim, California. It is unclear how many will walkout Tuesday, but union leaders are warning employees that doing so would defy their contractual obligations
