• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Lithium fires can burn for days and in general fire departments can’t do anything with them other than try to keep other stuff from catching on fire.

The big problem is the batteries. I’m very curious to see what happens as the cars age past useful battery life. We are getting close to the first big wave of electric car batteries aging out. I’m curious to see what happens to the cars as the batteries get old. Does battery performance degrade over time? Does a full charge=100 miles turn into a full charge=50 miles? Can you get a replacement battery? What happens to all the lithium? Is it recycled and how much does that cost? Are we going to deal with it at all in this country? My guess is we ship it off to some other third world country to get buried or something like that.

Same as old solar panels, somebody is going to get rich of off recycling old green product waste.
If we catch a fire in a Tesla vehicle or God forbid one of the city's all battery powered buses (they hold 4 - 1600 pound battery banks to power them) our 750 gallon tank on the rig will be like pissing in the wind. The chemical reaction that goes on with those batteries (Called thermal runaway) will generate so much heat that we'd basically have to get a water supply and flow our 500 gallon per minute deck gun on it for up to 24 fvcking hours to cool the batteries enough to put the fire out. Then there is the matter of the run off. What the F are we going to do with all that? Basically nothing. Might as well let it run into one of the storm drains and pollute a lake or 2.

Good share but not buying it. Seems like intentional disinformation by the C_A tbh.

Those fuckers can hardly figure out how to build planes, subs, jet engines, and a multitude of other things. No way their just sitting on the ability to figure it all out, and more, with AI and just choosing not to.

Given that the internet, and pretty much every other significant piece of technology, has come out DARPA in one form or another as well makes that dude seem like he has no clue and is looking for some interviews.

Doubt they could’ve rolled out, built, and broke records with the NGAD without some pretty clever AI tools as well.
If they got it they stole it. It's what china does.

Give em the whole west coast.

Now if it fell in, that's another story.

My brother lives a few hours north of SF, is a 2A loving Conservative, as are most of his neighbors. The real northern California is far different from SF or LA, thus I was hoping the Chynese would stop there. Also, I think the SEALs at Coronado would probably stop the Chynese so San Diego would be safe.
Yeah California outside of communist LA n SF really is quite American. CCP would have to take on Coronado Island, Point Loma Sub Base, San Diego Naval Base, Camp Pendleton. They'd be fucking annihilated.

Make of it what you will. I notice they have the qualifier of “not currently”. This is a reply to my email about tyranny and not allowing employees to make their own health decisions.

@tgsio could've written this:

Interestingly, this is exactly where I am right now. Our entire FB team is ready to turn in their jerseys.

(Has to do with my earlier post. It's even worse than I could imagine.. and it's not the boys misbehaving). The principal actually recited Miranda rights to 15-17 year old boys who were being interrogated and bullied by our esteemed educators over a frigging haircut that happened 2 months ago. And then told they have no rights as athletes. Do what now? Max knows he doesn't talk to anybody without me or my husband present. Got a problem with that? You can look to earlier interactions and false allegations.

Once we get through the next few days and I see where we are, I'll post more details. Needless to say, there is a SI, principal, and football hating AD facing the wrath of the community (AD was only put in position because she's a woman OVER a very qualified, well respected, 98% supported male teacher and coach). She's a blithering idiot in addition to being a raging bitch and she's in charge. She's normally pretty careful around me because she's gone up against me and lost before. *ahem...I, too, can be a bitch when warranted. But I'm not an idiot. And I will not back down. And now.... FINALLY.... the other parents are standing up. Guess it really matters when it's their kids being targeted. Welcome to my crazy, parents. There's a mandatory meeting for all parents and players tomorrow night wherein we will all be educated on bullying, but it's been made clear that this will not be a time for blame or finger pointing. As we are currently (as I type) organizing a pre meeting meeting with the parents and boys, I can assure you there will be plenty... and it won't be directed at the kids. The school board had a meeting tonight and have been informed they will also be required to be there tomorrow night. I have quite a bit to say. It seems that I will be one speaking. As my kid isn't directly involved, but I've had more than my fair share of dealings with this crap.....

And funny enough, the principal is my daughter's best friend's father. His daughter still has her beer in my fridge. She's 18. She was part of the quaranteam, with his blessing. It's going to be a little uncomfortable for him if he keeps the bs going.

On the only happy note of the day, Max has been invited to Bucknell for lax this weekend. So, I'm going to get my boy to myself for a few hours in the car and he's going to have a good weekend.
