I understand the argument that vaccines are causing variants, but I just don't agree with them. I don't think the natural selection process that you see with complex organisms applies to a virus like this. Also, the Delta variant originated in India, a place with very little vaccination, especially at the time the variant really started to spread. Same with the variant from South Africa; very little vaccination there at the time.
In early 2020, Iceland did an extensive genome analysis of people who were infected. Through contract tracing and genome mapping, they were able to identify entire tracks of infection throughout the country. In their study they identified dozens of "variants", just in Iceland alone. Again, no vaccination at the time. One interesting thing that came out of the study is that they didn't find a single instance of a child infecting another person. It's a fascinating study if you can find it. Here's an article about it:

It’s not that the vaccines are causing them. It’s that it’s making them more susceptible and the vaccine increases the effectiveness of the variants.
That’s what I’ve picked up and if I’m way way way off I’m okay with being corrected. I’m the same as everyone else, trying to make sense of the upside down

Unfortunately, even if that’s true, the vaccines are gonna be with us like the flu vaccine is currently every year.
The battle now is over mandates. The GOP, and conservatives in general, are gonna have to reassess whether they support government intervention into the business realm to control what businesses are able to require of their employees.
