“Defendant Bolton has gambled with the national security of the United States. He has exposed his country to harm and himself to civil (and potentially criminal) liability."
The Court is persuaded that Defendant Bolton likely jeopardized national security by disclosing classified information in violation of his nondisclosure agreement obligations.”
With hundreds of thousands of copies around the globe—many in newsrooms—the damage is done. But the Court will not, and cannot, stop the book. The remedy lies elsewhere. The government may pursue its full range of legal remedies.”
United States of America v. John R. Bolton, heard in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia before Judge Royce C. Lamberth. 6-20-20. While a preliminary injunction was not granted, because obviously the book had already been published and sent to print, and you can’t really put that cat back in the bag, the judge in a DC circuit lambasted Bolton in an official opinion and said that the proper remedies are probably criminal and civil.
So do me a favor and laugh at anybody who tells you that the prosecution of John Bolton was politically motivated.
No, what was politically motivated with his idiotic book that he needed to make sure to print before an election at the risk of national security. If we did what he did we would be in a jail cell. He just got a six figure book deal to get Trump before an election.
