I thought Tehran was too far for Israeli jets to fly and get back without refueling somewhere. During Obama's first reign (not his reign now) didn't he block the arrangement for the jets to refuel in Saudi Arabia?

Garland, uh, it wasn't a mistake. It was an "on purpose".

Texas AG Paxton settles lawsuit with Meta (FB) for $1.4 billion. Meta, allowed to not admit guilt, violated Texas' law against using facial recognition software. Apparently, every person in every photo uploaded to FB or Instagram has their facial features captured by their computers without getting permission from each person as Texas law requires.

From Dallas Morning News (paywall):

The settlement comes after Paxton first filed suit against the social media giant in 2022 for allegedly running facial recognition software on every photo uploaded to Facebook without informing users. Paxton’s office said Facebook’s “tag suggestions” feature, which recognizes faces in photos and links them with other users, has been continually running since 2011, violating Texas’ Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act (CUBI). This act prohibits people or companies from taking “biometric identifiers” like fingerprints, voice or facial recognition without their consent.

“Unbeknownst to most Texans, for more than a decade Meta ran facial recognition software on virtually every face contained in the photographs uploaded to Facebook, capturing records of the facial geometry of the people depicted,” Paxton’s office said. “Meta did this despite knowing that CUBI forbids companies from capturing biometric identifiers of Texans, including records of face geometry, unless the business first informs the person and receives their consent to capture the biometric identifier.”

Don't banks and others require thumb prints to do business with them? Probably an exception in the law for them. They have never asked permission - they just say "do it".

More from the Dallas Morning News:

Officials have identified the victim of a homicide in Denton last week as 20-year-old Dylan Wayne Gurley, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Denton police are investigating Gurley’s death as a homicide after Gurley was found unresponsive with traumatic injuries in a home July 23, according to a police news release.

Officers were dispatched to a report of an unconscious person at a home in the 3700 block of Holland Lane, according to the release.

Police identified Gurley as a woman in a news release last week. The Tarrant County medical examiner identified him as male.

Tranny or cross dresser?
