Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

It means that all gravy trains for Congress that had been slowed to a trickle by the previous administration are once again fully operational. WHO. Paris accord. And now this ludicrous relief package with less than 10% of it going to covid relief. The Swamp is firing on all cylinders again.
I believe the House still has to pass this version that the Senate just passed.
The House's version had all the extra stuff that the Senate had to chop out like the wage shit.
Then after that happens it would only take Susan Rice's blessing and it would be law.

Well the good news is that I should be receiving about $7K. The bad news is our country is fucked.
I’d also add that a lot of the words between the NIV and KJV example I posted above were unnecessary changes. “He guides me” from NIV is different from the word “leadeth” or “leads”. Why change that and not use “leads”? Why change to “refreshes my soul” instead of “restores my soul”?
Negligible difference. The most important thing is what does the original Hebrew say? The KJV is just a translation, and has its problems like all others.
Jesus said in the KJV: "Suffer the little children to come unto me ..."

Changing mercy to love is not negligible. They do not mean the same thing at all. Guide and lead are very different too. Lead is much stronger. Guide is more passive. Refresh means you are just “refilling”. Restores is stronger that the soul was lost and restored or “brought back”.
Anything touched by humans will have some level of inaccuracy unfortunately.

Read what I wrote. My complaint isn’t that they modernized the language. They actually made unnecessary changes. They could have used the same words “leadeth” should be “lead” not “guide”.

Not sure I would do it if I were him though since he can be elected Speaker without needing a seat. No reason to tie himself to the abomination we call Congress.
He if it takes him off the campaign trail that could be another scenario to consider if it's worth it.
Would probably come down to how close they expect the margin to be and either way the closer it gets (I think we are looking at a sizable GOP majority) than the less likely he is to try it and possibly tarnish his rep.
