Felt good to go to the baseball game tonight. Nice 12-4 win for the Rebs. I expect attendance to be higher tomorrow, being a Saturday.
Had to wear a face diaper going in/out of the stadium, which is outdoors. Didnt wear it whatsoever inside the stadium, roaming around the stadium. The state and city has lifted the mask mandate, but the school is still holding its mask mandate until the end of the semester....at least.
Just a weird dichotomy of expectations, yet what I saw was kids running around, people mingling and enjoying themselves, roaming around the stadium maskless. And EVERYONE stood for the national anthem. I get Mississippi is pretty fucking right wing, but what I saw was America saying we're going to continue being free and these stupid ass mandates by the government to keep us afraid are fuckimg bullshit! Sure, there were the few older folks who had masks and the select few of healthy aged individuals wearing marks still, but they were far and few between. I'm sure the real "mAsKs SaVe LiVeS" people would've never shown up, but fuck them....America is going to keep marching on without them.
Funny little side bit: I gotta go take a piss, so I head from outfield to the main stadium complex where the facilities are located. I have my full beer in a solo cup in hand (maskless) and pass by a security guard (black dude...I'm "white" fwiw). He hollers at me as I'm going by: "Sir...Sir!....SIR!". So I stop and turn around and ask what's the problem. He tells me I can't enter the stadium with a full drink
. I tell him that I'm happy to obligige because he's the boss, but I thought he was stopping me because I wasn't wearing a mask. He tells me "man, these things don't work...God is going to take us when He chooses to take us...I just gotta wear it cause of the job" (its around his chin). I told him thank you for doing his job right & crushed my brew on spot, then drunkenly red pill rambled with him a bit on the government and the world at large before heading to the pisser. Asked him his name, and he said his friends call him "Q" .....
