Hear more on Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s plans on “Inside Politics Sunday with Manu Raju” at 8 a.m. ET and 11 a.m. ET.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski, aghast at Donald Trump’s candidacy and the direction of her party, won’t rule out bolting from the GOP.
The veteran Alaska Republican, one of seven Republicans who voted to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial amid the aftermath of January 6, 2021, is done with the former president and said she “absolutely” would not vote for him.
“I wish that as Republicans, we had … a nominee that I could get behind,” Murkowski told CNN. “I certainly can’t get behind Donald Trump.”
The party’s shift toward Trump has caused Murkowski to consider her future within the GOP. In the interview, she would not say if she would remain a Republican.
Asked if she would become an independent, Murkowski said: “Oh, I think I’m very independent minded.” And she added: “I just regret that our party is seemingly becoming a party of Donald Trump.”
Pressed on if that meant she might become an independent, Murkowski said: “I am navigating my way through some very interesting political times. Let’s just leave it at that.”

Dirty Murk was as independently minded as chifi would allow her to be. Traitor!

Don’t know much about history .... do you?
As you look at current political trends, it might be time to remind everybody again what one of the most evil regimes of the last century looked like, what its political tools and goals were, and who promoted and supported it.
As somebody who was born and grew up in Germany, I am always amazed how American politicians throw the word NAZI around when they run out of arguments. I took the liberty to enumerate what the NAZI Party was about.
Any similarities to any American political party are purely coincidently …. or are they?
- Nazis were ultimate promoters of the all-powerful, huge, omnipotent Socialist government that controlled all aspects of German life.
- Nazis loved regulating and taxing every possible economic activity in Germany.
- Nazis established full national control of all Learning Institutions and had all school curricular follow the Socialist Party Doctrines.
- Nazis used class warfare and race baiting to turn Germans against other Germans of Jewish background and used that hate to exterminate millions of so-called undesirables.
- Nazis established a party friendly corrupt court system to prosecute their opponents and confiscate their homes and businesses, with many being sent to concentration camps and ultimate death.
- Nazis had no trouble using abortion and euthanasia to control the German population and curtail the so-called burden on government.
- Nazis were adored and promoted by the German celebrities of sport, film, and art.
- The press and media of Germany looked at Hitler and his Nazi Party as the saviors of the nation, which eventually lead to full control of the media by the German Government.
- Nazis were adored by the German academia, and celebrated with marches, book burning, looting and burning of Jewish businesses.
- Nazis catered to the German Youth which became the tool to promote Nazi policies, with Hitler proudly proclaiming; “He who owns the youth, owns the country”.
- Nazis were fully aware of the danger of an armed population to a dictatorial regime. They used existing law for gun registration under the guise of crime fighting, just to be followed by gun confiscation, allowing only members of the NAZI party to hold on to their weapons.
- Nazis loved to use children as their tool to convince the German people to endure the most stringent and unreasonable burdens and conditions.
- Nazis and their followers, and the media ridiculed, vilified, and oppressed opposing viewpoints and threatened violence as the last resort.
