A lot of those athletes didn't die or have newfound issues after receiving an inoculation. Many, like Hank Gaithers, had heart defects since birth which only showed up when they dropped to the floor. Subsequently, all athletes are given cardio tests before being allowed to play. Even with those cited, there haven't been as many having issues as those in the past 2 years.
