Pelosi was so afraid of what was going on during the proceedings that she had to change all of the rules to hide it. Gaetz wants everything to be seen, even the fights. Which I agree with. Watching the speaker stuff last week was great insight into what is going on. Pelosi feared accountability and transparency because of the terrible policies that dems employ.

Government at it's best....I'm sure pot dealers are laughing at this

And why I drive to Vermont
Come over to CT. We just opened up, today 1/10/23, for recreational sales. I've got one down the road from my office and a reggae band is kicking it right outside for the grand opening.

Everyone keeps asking me can you get everything you need down there?

They have just about everything you may need, and other things you might just stumble across…

I’m in the drugstore, and the checkout line has got a ripe selection of sex toys. Just in case you need something to go with your prescription you’re picking up!

Like I said these people know how to party.

Yesterday I get up to go for a run and the main street is shut-down with everyone running or walking down it. When in Rome do as the Romans.

When I got back to my house around 0730 a restaurant already had a live band rocking it.

Later that day I went out and everything but a few places are all closed.

I asked our concierge why it was all closed - hell it was another holiday!

Ole!

46 miles to VT dispensary for me. Order ahead and pick up without going in the store. Mass is closer as well. Still none in NYS up where I am.

Liberty in Springfield, MA is great. Also, I believe Great Barrington has one in Ma. Not a bad town either and a couple good bar/restaurants close by.

How far up state are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Won't get past the Senate so does it matter?
Not really, but I hadn't heard that they were pushing for the end of the IRS. I mean, I've heard people argue for it over the years and replace it with a much simpler plan, but I didn't know about it being discussed right now. I though they were going to try to eliminate those 87k new IRS jobs that were just added recently though.

A commission led by Sen. Manchin's wife set to receive millions from Omnibus Spending Bill

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/co...-receive-millions-more-manchin-backed-omnibus

Commission led by Gayle Manchin will receive $200 million in 2023 from Sen. Joe Manchin-backed omnibus bill
West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin III backed the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill in December which included a $200 million increase in funding for a commission overseen by his wife. That money is now set to be paid out in 2023.

The commission in question, the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), employs Gayle Manchin, paying her a salary of roughly $160,000 annually. The median household income in West Virginia is $50,884, according to U.S. Census data.

In March 2021, Gayle Manchin, an educator and former West Virginia official, was initially tapped by President Biden to serve as federal co-chair of the ARC and was unanimously confirmed by the Senate.

Sen. Manchin, who exercises outsized influence in the Senate as a critical swing vote, voted for the omnibus spending bill that includes increased appropriations for the ARC following his wife's appointment.

The $1.7 trillion government funding bill, comprised of 4,000 pages, passed the Senate by a 68-29 vote in December 2022. The $200 million appropriated to the ARC is set to be paid out in 2023; the funding represents a $5 million increase from 2022 spending.

The ARC is an economic development partnership between the government and 13 Appalachian states that helps distribute federal infrastructure grants.

The West Virginia senator previously helped craft earlier legislation, following his wife's 2021 appointment, that allocated $1 billion in funding over five years for the ARC. The funding, part of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, roughly doubled the ARC's funding levels.

In a statement in May 2021, Gayle Manchin said the increased funding would help the ARC "more adequately meet the overwhelming needs of communities impacted by job losses resulting from the decline in the coal industry. These grants will be instrumental to the long-term diversification and economic growth in Appalachia."

So we're paying millions to a group whose only job is to distribute grants that were already funded by Congress? This group employs 78 people according to their website. To top it off, Manchin's wife is in charge of the group.

Shouldn't congress decide where this money is going rather than outsourcing those decisions to a bloated commission? Especially when you're talking about over $1 Billion over 5 years?
