I've followed quite a few people who have started homeschooling their kids or are advocates for home schooling, and they all have the same general message that if we want to fix a broken system we have to remove our kids from the system. That sounds great but if I homeschool my kids, my property taxes still include money going to the local public school so I'm wondering how does that solve the problem? Is there a way I can get out of them if I homeschool my kids? I haven't been able to find a good answer to my question which leads me to believe there may not be one.
Depending on your state and income level, you can use vouchers to offset the cost of homeschool (curriculum is more expensive than one might think).

There are also a decent amount of co-op or university-style blended programs (2-3 days at school, 2-3 days at home) that also take vouchers.

Indiana has a pretty good system.
