Thanks in advan
Thanks brother,, I appreciate it. I'll look up some of those courses tomorrow. We haven't booked our house yet, so I'm not certain where we'll end up, but nice to have some good options.Patriots point is the closest public course. It’s probably $120 or so for 18 holes and has great views, but average course imo. 10 min from downtown.
If you are willing to travel 30-45 minutes you have all the Kiawah resort golf. 4-5 different courses including the Ocean Course. They are all good courses but I like Osprey the best (aside from the ocean course).
Just to the north, 20 min from downtown, there is Wild Dunes golf. (2) 18 hole courses that are kind of tight and on the water. Great courses but I have heard casual golfers say it’s tough and they lose a lot of balls.
Best private course in the area is Bulls Bay followed by Charleston Country club.
Not sure what kind of golfer you are but we will help you find the right places. And if I can’t play golf while you are in town maybe we can at least grab a drink.

Stono Ferry is a good course for poors

A shitty course for poors is the muni, over on James Island.
That reminds me the Muni completed a $3 million (pre-inflation dollars) and re-did a few of the holes. Haven't been out there yet but been meaning to go check it out.
And like @DuckDitchtiger said, Stono Ferry is a great course. Probably 20-25 minutes from downtown. The back 9 has a few holes along the river which are pretty cool.
From what you said @LVRebel, I'd suggest Patriots Point. It the closest to downtown area, pretty easily accessible, they have club rentals, and really great views of the Charleston Harbor. Its a good enough golf course. I play to about a 9 handicap and play a few times a year out there and enjoy it.
I love to play golf, but I also have 4 kids so you know how that goes. Finding the time is the hard part, but I play a couple times a month in spring and summer.
Since we have a good group of guys here commenting, what other things would you suggest for a trip out there around Charleston?
I'm hoping to book a fishing charter, but my wife is wanting to check out some of the historical stuff too. Any fishing charter rec's? In April, would the inshore fishing be pretty good? Not sure I want to dedicate the entire day to go out to the gulf stream.
Any good restaurants you recommend?
What about the historic stuff?
Make sure you get your restaurant reservations way in advance, things
Offshore fishing would be an all day event. To offshore fish you need to leave really early in the morning in order to get out to the gulfstream. Inshore fishing is a great option to and you can expect to catch flounder, sea trout, red-fish etc. I'll ask around for some good guides and get back to this thread shortly.
As far as history stuff goes I would suggest a walking tour and / or horse and buggy ride. Walking is really the best way to see the city as the streets are kind of narrow and parking is kind of tough.

You can check out Ft Sumter, where the war of northern aggression started, but you have to take a ferry ride to get there.
Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park (U.S. National Park Service)
Two forts stand at the entrance of Charleston Harbor. Patriots inside a palmetto log fort, later named Fort Moultrie, defeated the Royal Navy in 1776. As Charleston blazed a path towards secession to preserve slavery, construction on a new fort, Fort Sumter, proceeded. The Confederacy fired on...www.nps.gov
I usually recommend that people go to see Ft Moultrie instead of Ft Sumter, which you can drive to, and is pretty much the same thing as Ft Sumter just in a more accessible location. Ft Moultrie is on Sullivans island which is a cool beach town and great spot to go to the beach for the day.

Is that by Myrtle? At this time, we're just planning on stopping for a short time in MB, as we head up further north a bit after leaving Charleston. Are you talking about golf or fishing up there?I can probably help you out if your in the Grand Strand area.

NO. Fuck No. It' says fuck your feelings. If anyone rules on feelings then they hate our constitution.Saw a quote today that made me question our judicial system:
“The Law is Reason Free From Passion”
-Aristotle
Can our SCOTUS honestly say they rule the bench under that doctrine? Either side?
Where do we go from here?NO. Fuck No. It' says fuck your feelings. If anyone rules on feelings then they hate our constitution.

Yes, would love the recs. Thank youTake a guided trip to sight cast for redfish. I can give you a couple great captains' names if you are interested in a 4 hr trip. Also, pretty touristy, but I have been on a couple of the carraige tours downtown and they are really great if you get a good tourguide.
