Trains Union Strike

It's hard to tell what Congress will do.

The House seems like they don't want to be involved and I'm not sure if the bill proposed in the Senate will pass.

If the Senate had voted to kick the can for another 30 days it would've been more likely to pass but unless the carriers budge on attendance and a cap on healthcare it doesn't look promising.
I hate unions (especially public sector gov. unions), but the attendance policy and how you can or can't use sick days is retarded and I can understand why people want to strike.

Transportation is striking when the clock hits 12:01 AM as soon as Friday starts.

Also…..

Anyone from the top of the union that I should reach out to? I feel like a little nudge/reminded (that the workers don’t believe the union doesn’t have their best interest SO the best way to prove it is a LONG DRAWN OUT STRIKE!).

Seem like the only reasonable option at this point as the union appears to have been talked over by lazy fellas that like to talk about stuff.

IMHO IYAM…..but I’ll defer to yore expertise on the subject! 🤣

Everything is always about the quick band aid. @Jakethedog congrats BUT sorry you guys are still being screwed over. YOU GUYS DONT DESERVE IT. Some of us actually appreciate and respect what you guys do for us!

The tentative agreement calls for an immediate wage increase of 14% once compounded with an additional 4% on July 1, 2023, and 4.5% on July 1, 2024. In addition, wage increases of 3% effective July 1, 2020, 3.5% effective July 1, 2021, and 7% effective July 1, 2022, will be fully retroactive, for a compounded increase of 24% over the 5-year term of the agreement. The agreement also includes annual lump-sum bonus payments totaling $5,000.

The parties’ Health and Welfare Plan point-of-service costs will remain unchanged; there will be no increases to copays or deductibles and there are no disruptions to the existing health care networks. After over 20 hours of negotiations, we were able to reach an agreement that freezes our members’ monthly health care contributions at the end of the agreement. No additional increases will apply to our monthly contributions while the parties bargain over the next National Agreement.

The solidarity shown by our members, essential workers to this economy who keep America’s freight trains moving, made the difference in our Unions obtaining agreement provisions that exceeded the recommendations of the Presidential Emergency Board. We listened when our members told us that a final agreement would require improvements to their quality of life as well as economic gains. As a result, this agreement includes agreement provisions that will create voluntary assigned days off for members working in thru freight service, and all members will receive one additional paid day off. Most importantly, for the first time ever, the agreement provides our members with the ability to take time away from work to attend to routine and preventive medical care, as well as exemptions from attendance policies for hospitalizations and surgical procedures.

So glad to hear this.....but....if Inflation doesn't calm, those increases will continue to amount to nothing. You guys deserve to be treated better and I honestly think if normal American's actually understood the working conditions (no pay for sick/dr visits etc)....you guys would get complete support from the people!!!!

Again....all joking aside, most of appreciate and respect what you guys do for us!

On the medical/PM issues, I have no unearthly clue why a company WOULDN'T encourage their employees to go to the Dr. A healthier employee, calls in less and is generally more productive. Makes no sense to me why they would discourage their employees being healthy.

I think the carriers put all their eggs in the basket of one man crews.

When that didn't go in their favor they were stuck with bad huge staffing shortage. When the STB was grilling CSX CEO Jim Foote he came right out and said they wouldn't have a staffing shortage if they would let them go to one man crews.

That man should have his limbs ripped up off then be beaten to death with said limbs (by the employees obviously). What a POS. I hope if we ever get to the day when the people exact vengeance in the streets on the elites…..this guy get drug out by the rail employees….🤬🤬🤬)

Sorry for the rant BUT they continue to shit on the employees. Which is infuriating to watch.
