This is all bullshit and more artificial inflation. All these big logistics companies especially rail made so much money the past few years they don’t wanna give it up. Freight rates are leveling back out and fuel is high so they will do whatever it takes to create more demand and higher rates.

Fuck the unions and Fuck ku

10 unions have reached tentative agreements. We'll know if they are ratified on the 14th. I voted no because sometimes you've got to strike just to show them you will and I feel like it will hurt the Dems in Congress.

The two biggest unions are holding out for good reason. Transportation is getting screwed regularly. If they strike none of us work until this is resolved.

Need 60 votes in the Senate to put us back to work or settle a contract so this strike may last for a bit.

I saw where Biden people were advising Railroad co's to increase pay to a minimum of $30/hour. It is absolutely shocking how stupid people in government is.

I can't think of a craft that makes less than $30 an hour right now.

As a Carman I make $32.98 with the current contract.

I would like to see a small shift and weekend differential to encourage more jobs with weekends off.

Yeah that does seem low for a rate for railroad guys. Don't yall get top shelf benefits? Do yall still get pensions or are yall 401k?

We get Railroad Retirement instead of Social Security. Retire at 60/30 and generally draw a good bit more than SS. We pay more for it though, 6.2% for Tier 1 and 4.9% for Tier 2.

We get a 401K match but it maxes out at $500 a year last I checked

Wednesday it will be that case for 10 of the unions.

The two holding out seem to be taking it all the way to Congress.

Shit is going to hit the fan regardless. None of us other crafts are crossing a picket line from another union

I think they were talking about across the whole co. They were saying nobody should make less than that. Could be wrong. All I saw was that "one sentence" suggestion.

Toilet paper and spermicidal lube
So I'm good. Thanks.

One of my employees, her brother works for the Government in some capacity with security and the travel industry (rail, trucking, etc). He texted her yesterday and said to stock up, because as of Friday the rail industry is probably going to grind to a halt.

Fitna get ugly, folks.

No reason to worry. Joe Biden is personally involved in negotiations

Railroads and unions have until Friday to resolve a labor dispute that risks a crippling shutdown of the nation's freight-rail network, wreaking havoc on the US economy. President Joe Biden is now personally involved in negotiations. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre says a shutdown is unacceptable.

What's your big picture, short and long term view on this, @Jakethedog ?

It's hard to tell what Congress will do.

The House seems like they don't want to be involved and I'm not sure if the bill proposed in the Senate will pass.

If the Senate had voted to kick the can for another 30 days it would've been more likely to pass but unless the carriers budge on attendance and a cap on healthcare it doesn't look promising.
