Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

My wife’s an elementary teacher has been for a while so I know quite a few teachers and let me tell you some of these people are the dumbest society has to offer. If this lady is competent and can do her job then absolutely I would let her teach my kids. There are so many teachers that are absolutely terrible at their jobs and can’t get fired why can’t this lady keep hers

Best teacher I ever had in high school was a history teacher I remember everything he taught. But one day the superintendent, district IT guy and a cop rolled into class snatched his computer and then escorted him out. Had been looking at lien on school computers for years, and sending naughty photos as well. Total weirdo, fantastic teacher
I’d like to add that on quizzes and tests he would give you up to .5 a point on a wrong answer if he could follow your work and see how you came up with the wrong answer, provided you would come back @7pm to explain yourself, and let him show you where you went wrong. The evening after a quiz or test half my senior class ( about 50 of us) were shoveling down dinner at home and back at school to figure it out. On 1 test I literally had no idea where to begin so I just wrote down a gay joke. He gave me my .5 credit, and when I showed up that night to learn he immediately asked for my demerit card, and laughed while giving me just enough demerits to be 1 short of detention.
