The problem is this... it takes roughly 550 to 600 naval ships to guarantee the free flow of trade by anyone to anyone across the planet.
That stability allows cheap shipping for companies to diversify supply chains, apply just in time, and open up shop anywhere on the planet while keeping transportation/ transactions costs low.
The US Navy has 290 deployable ships. It doesn't matter what Santa Klaus says.
