Shit my niece up around Greenville area graduates the Wednesday after Memorial Day weekend. I don't want to have fly up there from Goatlando. I'm sure filling up here in FLA isn't an issue but I have a V8 Silverado. Maybe I can rent something good on gas.

It’s in the process of starting up which is fantastic news. Assuming no hiccups the barrels should start hitting terminals Friday or Saturday. But restarting a 5500 mile pipeline complex isn’t simply flipping a switch.

that’s all well and good but who is going to drive the fuel from the terminal to retail? Not enough drivers

If there are no glitches the juice should be flowing by the weekend. Terminals should be resupplied by Saturday or Sunday. Still need to get it to the stations though. And the big boys will get theirs first.

Maybe he needs gas for his business? I don't begrudge anyone stocking up on supplies- I am pissed off at the people who limit supplies or won't do anything to help the supply chain.

ETA- I see now that was you. I still don't care- people should be able to buy whatever they want and can afford.

I probably bought a total of 35 gallons. I keep my trucks full anyway because I'm OCD and hate the thought f sitting on 95 in a car wreck traffic jam with 1/4 tank.

The cans were for hurricane season for my generator, which I do every year anyway. Just happened to coincide with the current lunacy.

People are getting a little paranoid though, because I never see this kind of activity during a weekday at my local gas station.

I drove to the mall anyway. In my Tundra. With the AC on. Speeding.

I ain't scared.

Good point

I learned about plastic and gasoline at a young age...needed to throw a bit of gas on a yellowjacket hive. Seemed easier to toss a cup down the hole, than bring the whole 5 gallon can. So I filled a red solo cup and went off to the nest...made it about 30 feet and the cup was dissolving in my hand, spilling all the gas harmlessly across the yard.

No Idea. I filled up everything Sunday. I've got close to 50 gallons in cans in the barn.

Humble brag.
50 gallon won’t get you anywhere in a shortage. I want a 1000 gallon tank. It will be expensive but if you bit the nut know it will pay off.

Remember when Andrew Yang ran on Truck driver losing their jobs to automation? That is the NY city mayor folks. LOL.

In between Raleigh and Greensboro and lines all over everywhere today. Some places were completely out.

obligatory thanks Jim Biden
Left SC Sunday for LA, had no clue this was going to be an issue. Wife has been pretty frustrated trying to find gas around Greenville.

Wife tried to fill up on the way home from work in Ponte Vedra, Fl last night not even knowing there was a shortage and the station was out. Passed the same station this morning and filled up with no issues.

Crisis over.

Thinking of cutting through rural AL instead of 65/85/285. Less people means more gas, higher prices. I will pay to keep moving.
Don't know if you were around for the Jimmy Carter 1979 contrived gas shortage. One aspect of his edict was to deny urban stations gas when the ran out until the rural stations had used their allotments.

Lived in the San Fernando Valley during that time. Aunt taking me to Disneyland and needed gas. Wrong number on the license plate so no gas. She told me to cry and see if it worked. Guy running the pumps let us have gas.....

My wife tried to cancel our weekend trip to see my brother in Madison, AL this morning. I literally had to show her the text from my brother that he's been able to fill all 4 cars late yesterday and this morning for her to back down. My SUV has a 600 mile range it's full right now. I'd make it back to Atlanta and still have over a 1/4 of a tank left. Sheesh.

I worked with CBP (now called) in Houston during the crisis. Part of my job was boarding tankers and other ships coming into the Port of Houston and surrounding ports. Main complaint from ship captains and oil companies was there was no place to offload oil. The tanks at the refineries were full. What would take 1 day to offload took 3-4 days sitting at the dock waiting for room to put the oil. I flew over the Gulf several times and there were massive supertankers sitting offshore with 15-20 small lightering ships surrounding them. Their job was to move oil to shore since they could travel the ship channel and the supertankers couldn't. It was a clusterfuck and cost everyone a fortune. I was fortunate as my schedule was erratic with several 2-3 AM ship boardings which let me stop at all night stations when lines were small.

This made me laugh...not because it was all that funny, but because it made me think of one of the greatest Deep Thoughts of all time.

Atlanta getting much better quickly. My goto Quik Trip had 2 trucks off loading today. Diesel could still be found with minimal driving the whole time.
Now headed to Acworth and looks like there is gas according to gas buddy. Gonna roll the bones and make the drive.

I am just glad WSB fired that hack Jamie Dupree. Daggum, I hated the way they marketed him as impartial. Impartial my ass.
When he was on with Neil Bortz, he did his best to act totally neutral when Neil would prod him about taking a side and Jamie always said that I did not take sides but I also did not vote so I could stay impartial. Once he got a job back after his voice problem etc. he became nothing but a mouthpiece for WSB which is the most liberal piece of shit station in Atlanta, I guess he had to do what it took to keep a job and become that liberal mouthpiece, Goes to show everybody can be bought especially those on the left, are used to also love Boortz but fuck him as well

I e-mailed Jamie Dupree once and told him he was fucking hack. He got so pissed. Dude must have a very tiny pecker.
