15 years is a pretty long life span for a vizsla. You obviously gave him a very comfortable life. I just put my name on a list for a litter due on Jan. 18th... fingers crossed
Almost 15 full years with this buddy of mine, Captain. Had to say good bye for the final time on Sunday.

Captain was a constant in my life for so long. I changed jobs, houses, went from have no kids to now having a 9 and 7 year old, and he was always here with me. And now he's not. It doesn't even feel real. Two day later and I'm still in a fog trying to process this new life without him.

The reality that he is no longer in this world, that he now only exist in my memories, and I can't see him or touch him right now if I wanted to is hard to grasp.

It sucks, it hurts, so fvcking bad

Sorry for your loss OP.

GF and went to San Diego in February last year for a weekend. As we were walking around I told her I want to stop by a pet store to buy a toy and a treat for my sisters dog.

Second we walk in, right next to the door is a pup for adoption. We fall in love. I'm walking around and the girl working mentions there's another in the back room. We fall in love again. We tell the girl working that we want both and she give us the website address to apply for adoption. GF starts filling out the application as soon as we leave. We walk back in later, and the next day too, sitting in the room with the puppy.

Monday she gets a call that we've adopted them so right after work we drive from Orange County to San Diego to pick them up.

What a joy they have been to our lives! The bigger one (25lb lab mix) loves me more than my GF. (GF doesn't like that fact) and the smaller one runs the show completely!20200820_151545.jpg

I'm sorry.

It's so hard having to make the final decision and knowing it's 100% out of love and it's the right thing to do.

I'm dreading the day (not too far off).

Many here have seen my Guinness pics more than they would like. 🤣

I absolutely adore my girl, spoil and cater to her beyond what is ridiculous. The entire family greets the dog before acknowledging anybody else exists. And I ruined a perfectly good champion line B&T coonhound. She's the princess. 🤣

And I take not so secret pleasure in the fact that she's MY girl, first. My husband, until this past year, traveled constantly. The kids were in school all day (and then 2 of them flew the nest) so it's been me and Guinness for 11 years.

Lady Guinness Bassale staring at me to make us hurry up singing so she could eat her birthday cake last night. 😅

*please ignore those horrendous floors. They're getting ripped out in a couple of months.

FE395368-751B-4234-B230-C92741209F21.jpegOakley. Adopted him a year ago. Always on guard! Loves barking at animals on TV. Loves old westerns the most. Haven’t seen a whole a John Wayne movie since we got the excitable beast. Malnourished and abused when we got him. Put on 40 pounds the first year we got him. Great therapy dogs and loves saying prayers with you.

This one er is Chance, always on his last one! Haha. Adopted this one from Nome AK. Arctic street dog and possibly part wolverine. Haha! Loves chasing off moose and confronting bears. Best trail dog we have ever had. Anti-social and why he is my favorite. Low maintenance!! SKOL!

This is my girl Lola Grace. She has blessed our family for 14 years. The writing is on the wall, but she hasn’t given us the look. That day will be the darkest in my 53 yrs. I have put down three other dogs, but she is more than a dog. Great thread! Love to see so many wonderful dogs!
