What the bill actually does
- Requires the Department of Justice (under Attorney General Pam Bondi) to release all unclassified records related to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
- Must be in a searchable and downloadable format.
- Deadline: within 30 days of signing (so by December 19, 2025).
- Important loopholes: Materials related to ongoing investigations, national security, or personal privacy can still be withheld or redacted.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators found over 10,000 text messages exchanged over a one-month period between the pair, discussing and sharing explicit images and making plans involving the children.
Laughton entered a guilty plea in November 2025 to three counts of sexual exploitation of children. The charges carry minimum sentences of 15 years in prison and up to 30 years, along with supervised release. Scheduled for sentencing in February 2026.
