Republicans want to lose the midterms. The worthless Republicans need to get voter ID in place and required nationwide by law before the midterms. If they don't the Democrats will cheat their way to a majority somehow even if they're polling at 10%. We already know they will do anything up to and including homicide.
Good for you. I lost 75 pounds 3 years ago and have kept it off since. I go up and down 5 pounds every now and then but have kept it off. Mine wasn't diet but ODing on a health food supplement. Qunol Tumeric to be exact. Label says 1500 mg 2x daily. Nope. That will destroy your gut. Found that 450 mg daily is better but I have stopped taking it since having both knees replaced. MD liked the weight loss before knee replacement, however.Just a humble brag on lifestyle change..
When I started focusing on my health I was up to 237 and could barely do 20 pushups.
Yesterday I was 218 and did 100 pushups for the day and 130 situps. I'm still not where I want to be cardio wise but I'm starting to get my muscle back and getting rid of the beer belly.
getting in shape can start with just doing a little bit and building toward a goal!
That's awesome. The only disagreement is that carbs mean more than calories. Some calories pass right through if not burned. Carb calories do not. And you are eliminating carbs to teach your body to look for fat to burn, not carbs. That's fantastic, man.
I've been on this wellness journey for about a year now. If you haven't already, sprinkle in 5g of creatine per day to aid in building muscle. When I started trying to improve my health, I aimed for 110g of protein per day. Now I shoot for 150g.
Pushups and situps are my primary exercises, too. Do some work with dumbbells, as well. I try and increase the number in my sets week over week. Up to 3 sets of 55 pushups and 3 sets of 50 situps at the moment. Stomach muscles used to get inflamed and sore but I think I've recently gotten over that hump.
Regarding cardio, I've started focusing more on building muscle and that is helping me with burning fat more than cardio was. I still try and walk 2.5 to 4 miles every day. Usually good for 6 out of 7 days a week on that goal.
And as always, less calories in vs calories burned is the way.
Yep. When I went keto last year I didn't count a calorie for months. Once I started doing what you did and my body stopped looking for carbs to burn, the weight melted off in exchange for lean muscle. In summer of 2024 I had a heart attack. Since then I've worked to clean up. The obvious was putting down the cigs for good, which wasn't even an issue after that even though I'd tried to quit a million times before. It wasn't even a thought much less a struggle, last nicotine I had was the day I had the heart attack. Since then I've focused on diet, exercise, & stress relief.
My diet:
Cut out sugars & carbs for the most part. Cut out processed foods for the most part. Cut out seed oils for the most part. Stopped looking at the nutrition labels so much, & looked at the ingredients. Even things like protein shakes you think are "good for you" are full of seed oils & preservatives a lot of fruit juices have added sugars in an already sugar rich product. The less ingredients the closer to a "whole food" the better. I take in meats, eggs, nuts, & fruits. Real butter, real olive oil, honey, etc. I also live by a 16/8 fast most days. From 8 at night till 12 at noon I have no foods from 12 noon till 8 at night I eat. Water/coffee only in the AM. Once you get used to it, it's easy & you don't even think about it. Starting Friday night until Sunday evening I eat what I want when I want but don't gorge. Also vacations I'm gonna eat what I want & when I want to for the most part. Weekends/vacations I'm gonna have a drink or six as well.
Exercise, light dumbells, pushups, sit ups, & squats enough for an older dude to get going. Sometimes multiple times a day. I''ve worked up to 200-500 reps at a time of mixed routine depending on how I'm feeling. Walking, walk almost everyday, 20-40 minutes then also walk for routine errands from my small town office to the bank or post office or wal greens, etc in between. Leave that phone behind and just walk to clear that head & get that blood pressure down.
Stress relief, the general exercise & walking are big stress relievers, regular sleep too, but this summer I've also made a point that when I'm doing yard work I'm barefoot (Im not using a push mower) & often without a shirt to get sun & feel that grass/dirt under my feet again. I work, but take my time. That phone stays inside & I don't think about that. I've a pool & take the time to actually get in it & swim around. I talk to God again these days, particularly when I'm walking.
I may die today, but I've felt better the last 9 months or so after recovery than I had for 10-15 years. Didn't even realize how bad I was feeling until I started working on those things & started feeling good again & it's really not that hard to do
I'm afraid this assassination investigation may be akin to Butler, PA. It's beginning to appear like some very important people or nations are getting shielded.
Kirby has UGA lawyers in court today to get a restraining order against Kirk Herbstreit to keep him away from Gunner Stockton.
This is a little to creepy. Hose Kirk down with some cold water. He is way too thirsty.
Gunner is going to win the Heisman though.

Repubes have been threatened by dems and others. They're told if they pass some of this voter ID stuff or vote to confirm any of Trump's nominees into positions they may have some of their skeletons exposed. People already know what the dems have done and received no consequences. The dems have nothing to lose exposing stuff the repubes want to stay hidden.Republicans want to lose the midterms.
