President Donald Trump’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is nearing a historic deal with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency that will allow agents to more efficiently locate and arrest illegal aliens already ordered deported from the United States.

The IRS-ICE agreement, which anonymous sources told Politico is close to being finalized, will see the tax revenue agency open its databases to ICE agents when they need to confirm the names and addresses of illegal aliens who have been ordered deported by a federal immigration judge.

I’m working on a microgrid project for a federal facility. The project was put on hold by the Trump admin for review because it included green infrastructure (solar panels, vehicle chargers). The government pm changed the project scoping documents and summaries to read as strictly a resiliency project for the facility and it’s now approved and moving forward. A lot of noncitizens are eligible for and are issued a Social Security Number. Among them are:

People who have been lawfully admitted to the US for permanent residence (green card holder);

People lawfully admitted to the US on a temporary basis and who have DHS authorization to work. This category includes: some student visa holders, H-2A Farmworker visa holders, H-1B high-skilled work visa holders, etc.

Under the Biden Administration’s Humanitarian Parole Program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans, 30,000 migrants were admitted into the US each month, they were granted authorization to live/work in the US for 2 years and were given a Social Security Number. I think President Trump terminated this humanitarian parole program as soon as he was sworn in as President.

People who enter the country illegally are not eligible for and are not issued a Social Security Number. One exception to this rule are people who enter illegally and claim asylum. Asylum seekers can apply for work authorization after his/her asylum application has been pending for 6 months. Asylum seekers who apply for and are granted work authorization are issued a Social Security Number.
