In 2024, the USDA purchased about $1 billion worth of food (mainly meats) to both stabilize the market (Section 32) and distribute to school food programs. Another billion was spent on setting up the infrastructure for such a program and ensuring proper distribution.

All of this money could be redirected to small farmers and local school programs to manage and distribute directly. As it stands, most of this went to the largest meat suppliers in the US; some numbers suggest that 30-40% of food is then potentially wasted.

Imagine replacing soda and junk food within snap with real meat and produce, especially in food deserts. Not only would we have a healthier populace, but future medical costs would plummet.

This also inflated the cost of beef to the rest of us. It’s that whole supply demand curve thing.

We need to completely separate the SNAP programs from the farm bill. They keep them together as leverage. Most don’t realize that the snap program within the farm bill dwarfs assistance that actually goes towards farming.

Welfare in general needs a reset. I do understand that it's a necessity for society...in a short term manner. There used to be a stigma that came with accepting Government assistance that is no longer there. Now, I have people approach me in the grocery store line willing to pay for my stuff if I'll give them the cash. What in the actual fuck?

But, people in general don't take pride in doing a hard day's work anymore. There's a large segment of our society that is just fine living on the bare minimum, as long as it's given and they don't have to have a job or be a productive member of society.

If you ditch the union you'll save more money.

They inflated the cost of everything. It's almost like the suppliers saw their costs of raw product rise $1 so they raised the price $2+ on finished goods. Why? Because nobody stopped them. Raise the price to whatever you want so long as you give the OBiden's a taste of the income and you can even write off that expense. Send to the Cayman Islands address.

Had this same thought on the way in to work this morning. We have a local sports radio host that's a big lib. I've yet to hear him condemn any of this shit going on with the left, but he will slip in a shot at Trump almost on the daily.

That's the horse you hitched your wagon to, fucking own it.

I have no problem sending Maxine and Jasmine to Mars and leaving them.

The leftists act like destroying all Tesla owner's cars will hurt Musk. Those cars will have to be replaced or repaired by insurance, the buildings will have to be replaced by insurance and it further debunks the global warming charade as many of those EV are owned by confirmed lefties. Musk may suffer on sales but not on repairs. Who else can repair Tesla's?

Don't F with Mother Nature.

I've been in many Sec 8 residence throughout my career. Amazing the numbers of people who lived almost rent free with food stamps, paid medical, paid childcare and more. Many could afford multiple tattoos, nice cars, and luxuries of life on the tax payers pocket book.

Often the boyfriend de jour would break out windows to get inside and then the tenant would demand the owners repair the damage at their expense or a call to Section 8 resulted and the owner was forced to repair the damage. Few were ever held accountable. I saw many people sitting around in apartments in the middle of a Texas summer with their front doors wide open and bitching the whole time about the a/c not cooling. Or they left windows open and bitched.

Our first house we did a full gut rehab and stuck a Section 8 tenant in there. She complained that the house wasn't getting hot enough. The guy that installed the unit is a lifelong friend and I asked him to go check it out.

He called me and said "She has the thermostat set at 85 degrees. Current temp in there is 84. It's hot as balls in there".

Many of the places I had as clients were also All Bills Paid. There was no incentive to control costs as they weren't paying. Residents also knew if they had a hangnail all they had to do was call 911 and they would be taken to the hospital and be placed 1st in line as all ambulance arrivals are immediately treated.

I could write a book on what I saw just in Section 8.
