If going from bridge to hwy 41 is 15 min bo traffic then it is 30min w traffic but no accidents. Depending on. Where you work I526 is the other way around. 526 bypasses all around the metro.
If traffic is your only pull back for Awendaw- then pull the trigger. Awendaw is truly a gem. Where I lived was on the edge of the country.

Wadmalaw Island here for 25 years. Traffic is horrendous all over Charleston and will only get worse. I have to give myself a hour just to get off John’s Island. I miss the draw bridge days. Will only visit Mr. Unpleasant maybe twice a year too if I can help it. Leaving as soon as I retire. Awendah is beautiful tho
