Ok boys. Take your gay ass engineering degrees to a side chat please. 😉 and what started all of this shit about visas?

1. H1-B visas are used to import large quantities of "skilled labor". Most of them are in subject areas like computer science.

2. Having large numbers of H1-B visa holders decreases the number of high-tech jobs available to high-skilled Americans, and drives down wages for said jobs.

3. One of the most common justifications for such visas is employer cries of "I can't find any Americans who can do the job!", after which the American employee who was already doing the job just fine is fired, and forced to spend his last few weeks employment training his H1-B replacement, who works for much less.

4. Large high-tech companies want the cap on H1-B visa numbers drastically increased, or removed entirely, and make large campaign contributions to make it happen.

5. Americans are tired of having hundreds of thousands of high-skilled American tech workers working at Starbucks-type jobs, so that high-tech companies can hire H1-Bs for less pay. Also, because they don't pay well anymore, fewer Americans are going into these fields, making us dangerously dependent on foreign high-skilled labor.

6. The high-skilled labor that we wind up with often isn't nearly as competent as H1-B advocates would have you believe.

That's it in a nutshell. It's just the high-tech version of farm owners wanting endless numbers of low-skilled Mexican immigrants, so that they can hire them to pick fruit for almost nothing.

You will be made to care :).

Aww the spergers at x.com gave me my blue check back because they know I didn't do a damn thing wrong other than call out their own censorship BS, which they promptly ignored.

Still didn't give Owen Shroyer his back... or Laura Loomer.
I sometimes think Loomer reads her own press and believes it.

She's a rabble rouser for clicks. All in-your-face drama for effect.

I rarely follow her screed.

X algos are saying her posts are like spam. Oh well...

One thing is clear about the H1-B visa controversy.

EVERYONE is talking about it whereas before nobody was.

Yet another 'thing' is the deep state would like nothing better than to sow division in Trump's DOGE pick.

It appears they've been successful in accomplishing that, which only points to Loomer and what her part in the division is.

Another thing that's clear is Americans aren't trained as well as foreigners are.

Why? Could it be DEI? Federal Dept of Education controlling what local schools teach? Common Core? The US is way behind in science and math. Sure there are 'some' in the 1%, but those are few.

Plumbers, much like unlicensed engineers work under the plumber holding the license. I’m sure they don’t do much more than unclog toilets and snake drains.
It’s important to note, “Unlicensed engineers” only applies to those engineering positions that normally require a licensed Professional Engineer, like a bridge designer or the guy signing off on the plans for a sky scraper.

The vast majority of degreed engineers can do their job without any such license (hence my earlier rant).

A degreed engineer is an actual engineer, and has earned the distinction of that title, let’s not muddy the waters with this term “unlicensed engineer.” It’s ok tho - the PEs like to put “PE” after their name like a MD or a CPA does. So we don’t ever wonder who they are… 😎

To muddy the waters even more, when it comes to IT there are also quite a few high skilled engineers without degrees but have multiple fortune 100 company experience. These engineers were like Kobe Bryant and just went straight from high school to corporate IT. Most of the time when you find those types they're even better than your degreed engineers, and they think better critically.

The DEI HR cult of personality against whites was also a thing. It's slowly dying off luckily, but it was definitely a thing while they bitch "We can't find the talent here in the US" when they're ignoring multiple usually over qualified white engineers due to "DEI constraints".

No idea if this affected Elon's companies, but it sure did quite a few others who drank the kool aid. To Elon's point though, high level IT engineering positions are about to ramp up big time with AI and those whites are going to get gobbled up pretty fast going forward in 2025+. When they do, there is definitely going to be a gap in skilled engineers here.
