Two different arguments. Trump is arguing for absolute immunity even after he's out of office as long as he's not impeached. He won't win that. Nor should he. The President has to obey the Constitution, and can be charged once he's out of office if he doesn't. He does NOT have "Absolute Authority." That's asinine.
He’s arguing that the executive branch is not subject to the judicial system which is correct. His official actions as chief executive are subject to impeachment/ trial by the legislative branch. The judicial system can’t just wait until he’s no longer president then charge him with whatever they want. This would be like the current chief executive replacing the entire Supreme Court because he has the authority to appoint Supreme Court justices. Or it would be like the president vetoing a bill that became a law prior to his election. That’s not how it works.

The President is the Executive branch and he has complete authority over it.
